Also, do you buy miles on other family member's accounts to get the bonus a few times? There's a fee (and bonus) for sharing too?

yes you can. I don't see why that won't be possible? You may need to be a member of AAdvantage for a certain period of time before you are eligible for the promotion. Check the T&Cs.

Hmm I might wimp out this time... theres another 10% tax on it. No guarantee of the low redemption surcharges or even the rates either..

Hoping to use them to book another trip to YVR at some stage.
