AA buy miles promo, 50% bonus, increased annual limit to 60k

Just joined A Advantage and purchased 60,000 miles all in about 4 minutes.

Now to see what I can do with it, plus the bonus

Has anyone received their bonus points from this promotion yet? T&C states that they will be issued after 5 days from initial purchase.

This one seems to be very delayed, I need the miles pretty soon. Last promo that I bought miles the bonus posted at about the same time as the purchased miles, which was only 2 days after purchasing. This time around, the purchased miles posted within 12 hours and the bonus ones still havent posted (I know its only 3 days later, but delayed compared to how quickly they have posted before).

Not sure as to what promo your bonus points posted in that time frame, rabbits5. In past AA promos that I've seen, the bonus points posted at eight weeks after the end of the promo period, which was as per the terms and conditions of those promos.

The current promo says 5 days for bonus points. I anticipate mine posting shortly, fingers crossed.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Has everyone had a look at this?

Hi bcworld,

Very interested in trying out Emirates First class, in your post you had a example MEL-LHR via DXB flying QF9 first class all the way.
I've tried to replicate it but the AA search engine now only comes up with Economy availabililty via the Dubai route (so the flights do exist), but the First and Business class options are greyed out.

Any tips on how to get a gig on Emirates First class cabin. Deperate to try out the shower
(I'm from Sydney BTW).

thanks heaps

unless emirates is an AA partner and you book on EK in its own right. you won't be able to book a qf codeshare on an EK flight through AA. you can book a qf flight on qf metal as per the terms of the one world agreement, but not a qf flight number on an EK plane.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

oops - somehow my subject line changed to US Airways. This definately is an Advantage buy miles discussion.

MEL_Traveller, your logic sounds right, and that was what I alway had thought.
But that doesnt explain why only Economy availability is available Sydney via Dubai onto London?
(I presume no QF metal would fly onto London from Dubai, thus must be EK metal?)

And interesting how BCworld had that screen image (his post is on page 1 of this thread) - sorry dont know how to link it.

thanks

errr.... qantas and emirates have hooked up from April or whatever it is next year and all qantas flights to London will be via Dubai. if you want more information on that check out the threads here in AFF and/or google it, it's been all over the news for weeks! :)

Remember that you can hold a booking for 5 days with AA. I think your bonus miles will arrive before expiry. If you see what you want I'd book it now.

EK and QF have, but that doesn't suggest anything about an AA and EK hook up or EK joining OW. I can't imagine you being able to book an EK flight with AA miles until that were to happen (highly unlikely).

You can't book QF codeshare online either on AA with miles.

I'm also pretty certain that QF will run with QF metal on DXB-LHR, rather than it all being EK metal

Missed the post before that one of yours MEL traveller, ignore this :/

I've done some further checking.
The two flights I was looking at was QF1 and QF9, which are both QF metal, and they fly SYD/MEL via Dubai all the way to London (without offload onto EK code-share). Hence my confusion, as to why I only saw Economy award seats, and no Business of First award seats available.

This looks like it severely restricts award seats SYD/MEL to Europe unless you go on BA and then have to pay fuel surcharges.
Hopefully once the partnership is up and running, things might change – but I don’t see how if you can’t fly on EK.

cheers

I saw plenty of First. J on QF has always been difficult to get...particularly if you need two consecutive sectors with no stopover.

Are you seeing F availability after 31 March? And are you a Platinum (as you often see more Classic availability)?

I'm not staking that there would be plenty of availability on QF premium classes on LHR routes, and less so until the EK tie-up has been signed, sealed and delivered.

Across the Pacific might be a different story, but QF premium seat availability is always pretty short.

As per the screenshots I included I was searching via the AA site as a newly signed up member so QF Status doesn't come into it.

I was looking quite far out after March next year. As a QF NB I often see F available while J is very hard to come by (Kangaroo route).

Purchased 20,000 miles on 17/11/12 and they posted soon after. This afternoon, 3 x 1,500 bonus miles have posted.

Obviously a glitch in their system as there are 10,000 due. I'll give them a couple of days to sort it out, and then follow it up if there are still bonus miles outstanding.

Bonus miles have been issued to what I expected for myself & AV8+1 this afternoon (purchased 18/11) - contemplating whether to buy/gift miles from 2 other AV8 family account holders before Dec31.

AV8, did your bonus miles post in several smaller amounts, or in one single amount?

Here's mine (3 x 1,500 bonus miles), so far:

DC3 They posted as 8 transactions similar to yours all dated the day I purchased the miles (18/11) - there was one transaction only of 5,500, several 1,500 & 5,000 amounts (total 30,000).
