AA did not recognise Oneworld Ruby (Qantas Silver) Status at check-in

I don't really think that is fair. It is true that these things happen when travelling and there truly is nothing to do about it. I'd like to say though that your characterisation of the OWE isn't really fair.

I think my post was very fair but that said my post wasn't having a dig at OWE per say, (don't get me wrong, if I thought I had a right to lounge access but was denied, I too would be here complaining), my post was more a dig at how some people where treating this legitimate grip as a "these things happen". This forum is littered with threads and posts from ppl at higher FF levels who feel they did not receive a benefit which they are entitled, and yet a PS comes on here with a grip as legitimate as anyone else and some ppl feel as if it's unimportant.

AA staff are probably used to people saying anything to get free baggage.

That's probably true, but considering that OW has now been around for something like 13 years, and both QF and AA talk up their alliance with each other pretty frequently I find it hard to believe that the AA staff did not know about PS and it's meaning within OW and / or where not willing to at least spend 2 minutes determining what was going on. That said my own personal experience with some front line staff in the US suggests this sort of experience is not exactly uncommon.

It's certainly possible their status upgraded mid-trip; which could make it problematic in being able to present a card.
Or even in the few weeks before the trip could still have the same outcome. And even with the card in hand it may still have been a case of "computer says no", as in my example where the status had been verified over the phone the agents were still unable to get the computer to say "yes" - boarding pass remained displaying the incorrect status.

However, in the case of charges for luggage, a AA Supervisor can override "computer says no" and waive the luggage fees - a card should be sufficient reason for them to do so.

This is the part I was unsure about. If there was no such override then even with a card the OP may have been completely hosed (unfairly at that).

All said and done, I'm not sure what the OP can expect as a resolution. Nothing will come from QF - it isn't their fault. From AA, a US$25 refund on credit card / as a cheque? An apology would be nice, too. As for "loss of service, inconvenience, embarrassment" - don't think that'll eventuate, unless the OP is prepared to fully justify how they have been damaged as such and is prepared to take that to a court in the USA (or as a social media campaign). If the OP is a member of AAdvantage, or has more AA flights coming up, there may be chances for resolution there.

This all doesn't mean it's not worth chasing up, but I feel the OP is not going to be satisfied even if AA admit to their mistake.

We should certainly be able to expect that to be the case.

Go to FB and write some juicy words on AA's wall, do include an image of your FF card, a link to AA's website showing the benefits as OWS, a copy of the receipt (if any) to prove you paid the bag allowance and the tickets to show non-adjacent seat assignment ....... I am sure you will get a quick outcome.

Which is what happened to me last year - see post 9.
