American Airlines Offers Fast Track to Elite Status
If you fly on American, US Airways, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines or Qantas and earn the required elite-qualifying points between September 14 and December 23, 2015, you’ll receive elite status through February 28, 2017. The chart below shows how many points you’ll need to reach each elite level. Make sure to first register for the offer.

Very tempting! Shame the SWUs can only be used on AA metal though. Still, that's 8 upgrades that you'd never receive on Qantas.

Hmmm.... in the conditions in the registration page : "This is an exclusive offer only for select AAdvantage members who receive this message from LinkedIn and who do not hold AAdvantage Gold, Platinum or Executive Platinum status as of September 14, 2015. AAdvantage elite status members are not eligible for this offer."

Could be the sticking point :D

I've registered using the link... Will see what happens.

This almost seems too good to be true!

Registered. Would be nice to taste W(E)P. The key thing seems to be that you don't need the AA qualifying flights...

Although I can see the AA lounge dragons being snooty if one were to use a QF card to access the lounge that AA's own members are banned from, while using a SWU from Y to F :)

So I wouldn't need the 4 AA ~?

Pity it appears to suggest that MH J fares don't count. Would have done a few runs from HKG otherwise

We've done it without any snootiness from the AA angels.

Looks like the page has now been pulled. What a shame.

Yes, I'm getting "this page has expired" message. It did seem too good to be true. Wonder if they will honour those who managed to register? Probably not, is my guess.

Well I registered just before it was pulled just in case I can slip through.

I just did it and it worked? But I did have the window open a few hours ago, just hadn't filled it in yet ...

got in before it was yanked. will pop back to this thread on the 14th to see if it's honored/ see some run ideas that people smarter than me will no doubt research!

Signed up for this. Let's hope they honour it. Apparently they had a very similar offer in 2013 also via LinkedIn that was targeted but then a lot of people signed up so they pulled it yet honoured it for people who managed to register so let's cross our fingers.

What's the cheapest way to do this in J?

After registering during that short window I got an email from AA this morning:

[TD="class: Resizefontto11"]Thanks for registering for our fast track to American Airlines AAdvantage elite status promotion.

Here’s a reminder of how it works: Fly on American, US Airways and other select airlines* and earn the required elite-qualifying points between September 14 and December 23, 2015 , and you'll receive status through February 28, 2017 .

It’s that easy.

We look forward to welcoming you onboard soon.

Not sure I'll have a need/be able to use this, but it's a great deal nonetheless.

I'm also thinking about how I might be able to take advantage of this, but the answer is not really. I'll easily make QF Gold next year, so the only thing worth going for with AA is Exec Platinum. I won't be doing enough flying (paid travel on oneworld, anyway) by December to get 25,000 EQMs and I would have to spend well over $1,000 (no doubt with a solid AA F run included) to make up for the shortfall. Probably not worth it in my case.

But to anyone who wants to go for it, good on you and good luck! :)
