AA points purchase limit

I bought the maximum 150K AA miles with 115K bonus earlier in the year. I find that I now need another 9000 miles for a booking soon.
When I try to get my wife to gift me the extra miles the AA website will not accept the gift - over yearly limit.
is there any way I can get the extra few miles before next year?

Not that I'm aware off ......... We have an account each so don't run into that problem though .

Subject to waiting times and other stuff you'll need to look up, you can send points to SPG and from there to AA.

AA is giving a 20% bonus though mid-September, so you could send 15,000 MR points to get 7,500 SPG and then turn those into 9,000 AA.

You need to start a third account, perhaps a relative or son/daughter who does not fly. Buy some miles and then transfer (although the transfer may cost money).

I do not have many Amex MR points but my wife has 12000 MR points.
My theory now is to get her to transfer her points to get 6000 SPG points in her account, then do a SPG family transfer to my SPG account.
I can purchase SPG points for 0.035 US cents a point so I would need to buy 1500 SPG points to make my account total 7500 SPG points which I could then transfer to my at limit AA mile account with the 20% transfer bonus you advised to get me the extra 9000 AA miles I need.
how do you think this sounds and is it likely to work?
