Will be interesting to see if QF pulls its own LAX service
American Airlines will begin flying between Brisbane and Dallas/Fort Worth as the Oneworld member and Qantas partner brings new competition to local skies.
Brisbane has long been on American’s wishlist, and has been teased via its Instagram account – but Executive Traveller understands an official announcement is expected within the next 24 hours.
While Dallas Fort Worth isn’t a major drawcard in itself, the airport’s role as American Airlines’ hub provides plenty of onwards flights across the US, especially the east coast – both up to New York and down to the cruise capital of Miami.

Considering how little the grants are once spread around, airlines still jumping at it, interesting. I understand there might be tourism dollars tied to a deal like this also, as seen with others in the past. The ol' Queensland taxpayer funded AAIF almost always comes in for Inbound Tourism heavy routes, especially for routes with minimal or not currently serviced.
Not to mention the +++ on AA.Whoever is paying for it, thank you for providing me with even more award seats to/from the US
Isn't it more - - - on AA compared to QF.Not to mention the +++ on AA.
Sure - I did not want to make a negative comment ...Isn't it more - - - on AA compared to QF.
My guess is that BNE-DFW it's a NW24/25 seasonal. Perhaps mid November in line with the University finish/exam dates, and a mid February finish (in line with O-Week). That's about a 12-13 week season to cover for Uni, Tafe/College and School Students/Family/VFR crowd going to anywhere other the West Coast of USA (and ditto for the reverse, assuming AAIF money is applied with Queensland promoting Tourism to the non-West Coast Americans).
How does this work? Does the government gift money to the carrier towards startup costs or do they underwrite seats on the plane if it's not filled? If the latter, what's the incentive for an airline to price competitively? The QLD tax payers $$ a work (gifted)
