AA won't allow me to book:
QF1 SYD/BKK, transitting to
QF1 BKK/LHR

But Qantas will.

I know that this isn't permitted with revenue tickets, but Qantas have said that it's ok for frequent flyer tickets.

AA simply refuse to do it.

Really annoying!

Why would you want to for a frequent flyer ticket? No SC's are earned anyway.

Because the following inventory is available in F for redemption:
SYD/BKK
BKK/LHR
SYD/LHR

And I'm trying to book for two pax, so...
PNR#1: SYD/BKK/LHR
PNR#2: SYD/LHR

Oh well that makes sense then. Shame AA will not do it. All I can sugest is you call back and talk to another operator. Not much help I know :(

They will not do it because it is expressly prohibited by QF and QF will cancel bookings where an attempt to circumvent the inventory of UK-AU is attempted by doing UK-Asia/Asia-UK on the same flight. That QF will allow it for QF sales is irrelevent to sales by 3rd parties

If you can find availability on BA to Asia and QF to Australia ( for example) you would be fine

Phoning another agent will not help since the system is set up to refuse to price/issue it

Beg QF to release another F award to AA all the way though ??
You could try, but i assume you have no status with QF even though you fly them a reasonable amount ? but still you can always ask.

I've specifically asked Qantas, with reference to the exact rule you mention, and they have said the rule only applies for commercial tickets.

I got the impression that with redemption they really don't care.

But, as you say, perhaps they're happy to do it themselves but won't let others.

Even so, the AA system will refuse to price it, so whether QF would care or not, it can't be booked
