There's a big difference between being paid bigger commissions for using them to the creation of a rule restricting trade such that they have to use QF for issuing of a ticket; the latter is the one whose validity I was questioning

If the former, which is not unreasonable, then there is no rule that would prohibit the issuing of the ticket

Dave

Bingo! There is no rule to PROHIBIT issuing the ticket on any One World carrier. They are CHOOSING not to because of marketing strategies. And the customers are suffering because we pay the extra YQ charges.

OK, you guys won't believe this! The TA has read this forum and doesn't want to do the booking because of all the hard work and research I have put into this purchase. I mean what kind of idiot plans a $8500 purchase and DOESN'T do any research? I spent hours researching the $450 DVD recorder I bought two months ago! So they prefer dummies who don't know anything and just plunk down the cash.

There is something fishy about these agreements where the TA's are refusing to plate on anything besides QF. This is a published fare, not some special discounted fare put together by QF. The tickets can be issued by any One World carrier.

If the motivation is increased commissions because of volume, isn't this some kind of violation of ACCC rules? It seems that the TAs are not acting in the best interests of the customers.

How much commission is a LHGLOB34 worth? Base fare is $3889 AUD regardless of who issues it.
This sounds ridiculous.Your TA is getting their commission for very little effort because of the work you have put into it.Seems that they must have got their nose out of joint.Give them another chance.

Nope, you didn't see the email they sent me. They aren't worth another chance. I just wish I could do this on the internet since I obviously know more about this fare than they do.

Has anyone managed to get a paper ticket issued by AA since the Sydney office closed? Whether via the Indian call centre or UK or USA?

They are running a business and make their decisions based on what is best for their business. In some cases, doing what is right the customer will also be best for their business, but these things are not always aligned.

On the other hand, if they have read and understand this forum and the community that frequent this board, then they should also understand that a TA that provides good service to the board members will likely bring themselves strong and ongoing (repeat) business that often involves premium travel. Most people here travel more than once a year for a vacation.

True! We are doing a P&O cruise next month, a Caribbean cruise in Oct 2008 and European cruise in 2009 and air tickets for the latter two. Guess who WON'T get the booking!

If I had gotten good service, I would have been recommending them to anyone who asked and most people who frequent this forum are way above me in the premium class bracket.

Was just doing my monthly bill paying(credit cards just past the billing date) when I decided to check out the CBA's new travel plus scheme.Just checked out BNE-JFK as that is what we fly a lot.Surprise when they came back quoting the AA fare with AA codeshare on the QF flights. As expected a little cheaper than QF but the greatest surprise was that I then checked out the same dates on aa.com and using CBA's exchange rate the fare on AA came out at $A20 dearer.
They dont charge a surcharge on their own credit cards-I dont know about others but give you bonus points on their own so that a normal CBA card will give you 1QFF point per dollar spent,gold-2 QFF points and platinum-4 QFF points.I will check this out further.
