early December (and likely other months into the future) there is a LAX-SJU in Y run which can earn over 9000 miles for only $392 dollars, could be tempting for those just short of AAdvantage Gold, Plat or EXP status to consider.

how much in F?

If doing F, originate from LAS, not LAS. Much much cheaper and you can go the long way around:)

I can see this flight 820 dollars ex LAS, this is the usual price ex LAX, not that much different (unless you happen to be in LAS) after the positioning flight usually 114 return LAX-LAS

what do you route via to get 9k miles?

LAX-ORD-LGA-MIA-SJU-MIA-LGA-ORD-LAX but as it is in Y you can also transit through Newark, think that there is a CRJ with only Y class.

Has anyone tried doing LAS-ORD-LGA-MIA-SJU in P? I plugged in that routing minus LGA andas getting $600 one-way when my friend got a return for $700 or so in August last!

I've done that with a LAX-LAS segment prior. All booked into A besides MIA-SJU which was in I (2 class config). I don't remember, but I don't think P was available at the time.
420 SCs for just under US $490.

You really need the flight to have P, A or even I availability to get the best prices.
