Stayed for one night on the weekend and wanted somewhere with a proper kitchen and laundry. We were greeted by Malcolm, who I remembered from my last stay here in 2022. He has a very memorable personality, is very enthusiastic about his job and provides great service.

The suite was well sized and had a very well stocked kitchen. We booked a baby bed but it wasn't in the room on arrival. On calling reception they had delivered one within 5 minutes with many apologies. The only downsides of the room were rather uncomfortable living room furniture (we didn't realise immediately but it was a fold out sofa bed) and the open shower had poor drainage resulting in water running out to the hallway anytime we took a shower with full water pressure.

The welcome gift felt more substantial than I've received at other Accor hotels lately - the macarons tasted fresh, and the Koko Black chocolate was a nice souvenir to take home.

Breakfast was a strong point. I didn't get many photos but there was a full hot selection, a few types of bread including bagels (!), smashed avocado, lots of fresh fruit, cheeses, yoghurts, etc. There was barista coffee available at no extra charge and they were happy to offer in takeaway cups too. No shortage of staff who promptly cleaned tables and collected unused plates.

I did get a welcome drink voucher but didn't manage to use it due to fairly restrictive hours on the hotel bar not working with my schedule (5pm onwards only)

Would probably stay again if the price was right.
Haven't stayed there in a few years either, so it is good to read your review and hear that breakfast was ok @sudoer as we have booked a night there in May to see Tommy Emmanuel at Hamer Hall next door.
@Denali will show some views from the Hamer Hall "office" 🎸

Property: Ibis Osaka Umeda

Room booked: Standard room with 1 king bed
Room upgraded/type: As booked, top floor though.
Rate: ~$155 a night
Free internet: Yes
Free Breakfast:  Yes
Early check in/late out: Auto given 2pm checkout but didn't need
Welcome drink: Yes but forgot to redeem
Welcome gift: No. Didn't expect any for ibis though.

Stayed here last year and enjoyed it enough to choose it again over the other options. It really only suits a single or couple though. The Mercure in Namba is well priced but I just like the location of the Ibis a lot more for our plans.

It has direct access to the underground Whity area, which is full of restaurants and further along you can connect to all 4 major stations to get around.

Room is fairly small but pretty clean and fairly quiet facing the road, though we were at the top. The bed is huge but it's really just 2 beds together. Bathroom is good enough, the water pressure is amazing though!

Breakfast buffet is a bit small but enough to keep us fuelled for the morning still, wouldn't pay the $20 it usually costs though.

Would still stay again but might try Mercure next time if we have less travelling around plans. Swissotel with suite upgrades might be nice though!

As one of first stays in an Accor hotel as a diamond plus member this was a disappointing stay. So much so that, although we have decided to extend our stay in Bayeaux, we will not extend our stay here. I have been told that they do not provide free breakfasts on the weekend and that, as there are no mini bars in the room, they do not provide soft drinks to diamond members. (I could of course buy a small soft drink for eu5!)

The hotel requested we reuse our towels (fair enough). However as there is no guest laundry we are handwashing and used a towel to wring out our clothes. When we asked for new towels we were given beach towels!

The bathroom does not provide conditioner, body cream or a shower shelf. We have the impression that they are going out of their was to save money.

The final insult was charging our cc with eu500 for a eu230 stay. When we queried that we were told it was to cover the expenses we would have there! Looking at the very uninspiring restaurant, and the super expensive bar, I knew that wouldn’t happen!

PS Bayeux is a lovely town in a very interesting area of Normandy.

Many hotels in the Accor portfolio don’t offer breakfast. You need to check the list if unsure
I generally find properties in France offer the least status benefits and that’s as a long time Diamond who has stayed at many Accor properties in Europe and around the globe
