AAFF in QF Internet bookings

Just to reaffirm - I did exactly what I suggested for my 8 red-e-deal flights:

Booked on line on QF - did not put in any FF number
Grabbed the 6 letter/number reference
Went to British Airways - Global Gateway and selected "manage my booking"
Entered my AA FF number
Took my flights
Watched the points accrue happily

I think the important thing is just not to bother with the QF site at all to get your AA number in. Also dont call QF to get assistance from their staff.

... I gather from what I'm frequently told that the FF number shows up in two places on a PNR (of course I'm never told that that succinctly). One that is printed on the boarding pass, and one that it passed to FF department ...
Almost correct; there are indeed two industry standard PNR entries that can take a Frequent Flyer number.

These are FQTS for status and FQTV for mileage accrual. I believe it's supposed to be the FQTS entry that gets printed on one's BP and any miles are supposed to accrue in relation to the FQTV entry.

In some cases this can be used to advantage, but more often than not leads to confusion.

Less of an industry standard, more of an Amadeus standard; Sabre ( such as AA uses ) only has 1 FF entry iirc
