AAward - change from AAdvantage Number to Qantas FF number

I did this recently - have an AAward for an AA metal flight.
Finnair, RJ websites both didn't recognise the AA PNR (no surprise).
Called AA on Skype for free, asked to remove my AAdvantage number and replace with my QFF number.
Agent asked me if Qantas was "QR" - told her "QF".
Went back into booking on AA.com and my QFF number is there, although the last few digits are replaced with **** for security purposes, I'm guessing.
I found it best, if I remember, to set the FF details when making the booking. Obviously when logged into AAdvnatage account it will default to fill in my AA details. I try to remember to remove my name from the first traveler details, then it will remove all the pre-filled details. Then I add my name and select QFF and add QFF account number. Then the system is happy.

I want to do this so I can have lounge access for the AA domestic flights and get the included baggage benefits of my QFF Gold (OW Sapphire) rather than my AA Gold (OW Ruby) status.

The down-side with not having my AAdvantage number in the booking is that I cannot see the booking under My Trips on aa.com. So need to know the PNR (booking reference) to view the booking. So make a not if he booking reference, which will be received by email and shown on the screen when booked.

Unless I'm missing something, how do you make an AAward booking using your AA miles from your account, and take out those details during booking?
I didn't have the option to change the FF program details.
Are you referring to a revenue fare?

I think the idea was that you're making a rewards booking as if it was for someone else, and you then put in your details plus QFF number.
Ohhh that makes sense.
I logged into aa.com and it's now not under "Your Trips" anymore.
When I go into the booking, my QFF number in full is there.

As the booking has QFF number in there, it does not show directly in aa.com. You'll need to look it up on aa.com ("Find trips") using your QF PNR.

When presented with the passenger details section, remove your name from the first passenger field and tab to the next field. That will present a prompt to remove all passenger details and then just add in again using your own name but select Qantas as the FF program and enter QFF number. Just as if you are making the booking for someone else who just happens to have the same name as you.

I am referring to award bookings using AAdvantage miles.

And you can go to aa.com, select Manage Trip and enter the surname and AA booking reference (PNR). Then scroll down to the Passengers section and under each passenger's name you should see QF: 1234**** with the last 4 digits as obscured as****.

Ah, makes sense. Did not think to do that in the first place. Thanks!
