Jeez Louise, it seems like an eternity since we had any decent everyday style bonus offers from Amex. You know, booze, BP, etc. The minimum $500 spend style bonus is great but not everyone needs to buy a new fridge from Bing Lee or a new computer from Hardly Normal to get a points injection.

I think I'm having withdrawals...

Maybe with the new round of bonus partners being announced next week (or the week after..) there will be something a little better than the current round (not holding breath though)

I would not get too excited, there seems to be a cold wind blowing through lots of loyalty and credit card programs to restrict the ability to earn serious points.....too many people have learnt the rules and how to play "the game' and the BIG BOYS don't like it because that's not fair and we should all be dumb schmuks instead so they can make mega dollars !!

Well said !
I was going to "like" this post but didn't think it was appropriate

Would be nice if Amex spent some $$ on promotions instead of that annoying TV advert about stomach bugs and the Amex service............

Watching TV the other night the advert was on at least 10 times in the space of a few hours

Got to use up their marketing budget somehow I guess.....

Yes leanest it has been for several years.

Am currently earning an extra point per $, but only because I asked for it pre-Xmas.;)

But the real juicey "point-runs" have not been around since last calendar year, and the few that have been have been limited in nature only allowing small runs.

2013 is shaping to be my first year for a while where I will not earn a million points, or even close to it. (Note...I earn hardly any business related points, and so virtually all my points are from private spend.) Prudently I have a bit of a stockpile warehoused in several locations to tide me over the current drought.

Moving to Amex was one of the best things I ever did, and the secret to true point earn was not the higher earn rate per $ it offered, but rather the various promos that allowed one to really supercharge ones earns. Point-runs became addictive.

Does anyone think there will be an airline transfer bonus month like last year soon? Holding out for this but its now almost May... Need to book some redemptions soon!

It must be rarified air you are breathing lovesto. I am drinking Chateau Plonk-du-Plonk Rouge where you are obviously on the Moet. That or you put much more effort into this game than I can even imagine. ;)

Unfortunately it mainly seems to be just repeated offers to Virgin Australia, which is a rubbish place (for me) to move points too.

The last time Amex had it to SQ was probably about 2 or more years ago now. I moved over 1.5 million at that time and gained an extra 150K. I have been watching for another to move some more over as my stash there is now almost used up., and indeed just a couple of days ago moved 10K over so that I have just enough for two oneway F redemptions to Europe.

Let's just say that I am alert to opportunities.....and seize the day when they come. I am a firm believer that you make your own FF luck, and a few strategies goes along way. Plus I regard point running as a hobby that I enjoy, but one which has rich rewards.

Trouble is that I have become used to J and F travel now !

Subject to "enhancements" I am right for a few years...otherwise shock-horror I will need to start buying points for flights (AA, US Air, Avianca) etc.., or even worse actual flights!!!!

However having said that, it is rare that a FF or MR point has no cost, as there is normally some form of $ cost and/or time cost involved. Currently I assess each opportunity for how much time and $ are involved and harvest the best, and ignore those that are too costly for me.

My wife is none to impressed by the constant coming and going of various credit cards, and which bill gets paid on which card, as I continually fine tune earn and burn opportunities.........but she is most impressed to now be ensconced at the pointy end.

Eldest daughter is just back from 9 months backacking around the world....with all flights in J of course ;)

Still don't fully understand points running lovesto, but you set a standard to which I can only aspire. ;)

Backpacking in J? Doesn't sound too much like backpacking to me. There I was thinking 'backpacking' was getting buses, trains or LCC flights...

lovestotravel reports that Mrs lovestotravel prefers F now, so it's all relative kaelo. ;)

Apologies in order. I mis-quoted a poster lovestotravel when I should have typed lovetravellingoz . All this love, my brain turns to mush.

Anyone have any idea when Amex review the bonus partner offers? As Sensai love points out, it's been a while since a bonus transfer to SQ was offered. Another would be nice.

T&Cs on some of the current ones run until June, so I don't expect anything for another month and a half.

Just received an Amex email with some offers. Don't know if they are targeted, doesn't look to be.

Receive 15% bonus Etihad miles on points transfers jumps out.
