Hi,

Just a quick query, I'm flying out of HKG on Saturday on a QF flight back to BNE, was just wondering if I could access any of the Cathay lounges in HK airport as a QFF SG if I'm on a QF boarding pass?

just curious to see what the Cathay lounges are like compared to the QF J lounge in HK

Thanks for any info on this

Yes it's a OW Sapphire benefit; when travelling on any OW airline you can access any business lounge of any member airline.

Cool thanks for confirming that Opus, now I just need to find out which the best Cathay lounges to visit are!

QF J lounge is a dungeon.

HKG lounges are great if not quite at the quality of the F lounge in SYD until the refurbishments are complete. Try the Cabin if you can.

The best lounge is the one nearest your gate.

I wouldn't agree. If you arrive near the Wing and are departing near the Pier it might be nice to visit the Wing and freshen up rather than trudge through the airport first. Also with a long layover it is sometimes fun to do a lounge crawl.

I've been to both the QF J & F lounges, I quite like the J lounge as it is close to the gates and not super busy or loud. I found the QF F lounge quite disappointing to be honest, prefer the J lounge.

My flight leaves at around 11pm so might get there a few hours earlier and just have a look around at the different options, nothing is too far away from the gate from what I've seen, I've heard a lot of good things about the CX lounges so will check them out on Saturday evening

Just be careful with this as Check-in at the airport is 'only' open 3 hours before departure.

Early check-in is available at Hong Kong and Kowloon Airport Express Line Stations from the day beforeup to 90 minutes before departure. Also, you may be able to OLCI.

Yeah my plan was to check in a lot earlier at Kowloon station and get all the boarding passes etc... then head to the airport and just go straight through security so should have enough time to check out 1 or 2 before take off

I was only repeating the common party line on here, for those that don’t want to visit every lounge in the airport. I would agree the Wing in J is a bit nicer, though the Pier in J does have some nice qualities despite being under everything.

I hear (haven’t tried) the Cabin is good if you’re looking for a more Western experience and the G16 lounge (also haven’t tried) is to be avoided. :p

I go to HK twice each year, agree with above easiest way to check in.

I think I read CX are doing up another one of their lounges in HK and looking for a fourth.

They’d be looking for a 5th, if you don’t count the different lounges between J/F:
  1. The Wing
    1. Business
    2. First
  2. The Pier
    1. Business
    2. First
  3. G16
  4. The Cabin

Haven't been in any of the other J lounges but used the cabin when a flight was departing from an adjacent gate - and found it to be quite nice. Very nice view over the tarmac and lots of natural light.

Another vote for The Cabin - IMHO the best of CX's J lounges at HKG (though there are no showers).

Yes, do early check in at the airport express stations...... a colleague of mine in F took a cab direct to the airport and had to wait till -3 hrs before he could check in at the airport while I was having wonton noodles with bubblies:shock: in the lounge

Individual preferences are just that.

And just because a particular lounge gets more recommendations on AFF does not make that lounge better than any of the other lounges available.

The QF F lounge is still carp and the J lounge is still a dungeon - both facts not disputable.
