Access to Qantas First Lounge

My partner and I are (both Plat status with QFF) flying J PE on Qantas Syd-Nrt this Friday night 22 Jan, however, my parents are transiting from AKL-SYD-NRT. They will go to the Qantas business class lounge as dad is a Qantas club member. I want to meet them in the business class lounge and bring them to the Qantas First lounge. Will we be able to bring them there, even if they have already entered the business class lounge? Won't their boarding passes already show they have gained lounge access?

There is not limit to the number of lounges you can visit, you will be fine with two WPs guesting two others regardless.

Hi Krispy.

I am a WP....I have access to the FLounge when travelling J to AKL which I do 6 - 8 times per year. QF does NOT offer an "F" service trans tasman any longer.

I would certainly HOPE that those travelling F do not look down on others in the F Lounge travelling in other classes.

I ONLY fly F with QFF, long haul and I wouldn't give a toss who was flying what class in the lounge.

In the F Lounge.... As in life, there will always be those who think they are somehow superior to others..... I don't think the ratio of those who look down on others is necessarily higher in the lounge!

With Qf reducing the number of F cabins next year- there will be alot of WP than F only customers in there.

Since they've decided to remove first cabins I'd guess not. In fact if they get rid of enough F cabins they might be able to save money by getting rid of the F lounge.

Thought I'd resurrect a thread to ask a question. How strict are the QF staff on the one person guest limit at the F Lounges?

I'm flying PER-SYD-HNL in July and would like to take Mrs 11 and Jr 11 (5yrs old) into the F lounge. Should I just try my luck?

In my experience (within the last year), provided you ask nicely and the lounge is not crowded you should be OK. Others may have more recent experience to report!

I think you have a good chance with a 5yo. Be polite and ask only if stopped. I'd just go straight to the counter, hand over the boarding passes and point to the Mrs and Jnr and say they are your guests. In most cases, they will let children in and the +1 rule is applied only to adults. Saying that, my experience has been with taking a 3 yo and 6 mth old into the F lounge with the Mrs.

I'd agree, I was let in in the company of Mrs Tooner, and 3 little Tooners from 8 through 5 to 3.

You will all get access. At my last visit to the F lounge in Dec, out of curiosity given the number of families in the lounge, I asked at the desk on the way out. I was told the "unofficial" policy was that all children under 18 travelling with their parents (one of whom is WP) will be admitted to the F lounge if they are all travelling together. Very reasonable of QF if you ask me...

Yes, good point, it is unlikely to occur at LHR where most parents have come across the very strict application of the rules. Equally I've had no problem at other BA lounges such as JFK.

Now just 11 more PER-PBO-PER's (with 8 already booked) to go until Platinum.

Interesting... Last year I was travelling with my mother (NB) and my 7 year old daughter (PS) ex MEL to BKK. I asked at the Flounge if it was ok if I had "1 1/2" guests (referring jokingly to my young daughter) and while they did let us in she was quite haughty about it. Saying that that was a very strange way to ask (I mentioned that I knew it was strictly one guest but they were my mother and my daughter so would 1 1/2 be ok?) and that she would make a special exception, only this once, never again etc etc etc..

I suspect there was a sense of humour failure on the part of the staff. She probably thought you were patronizing her as you know the rule and still ask her if you can break it. Just ask her straight up next time...

Ok folks, the general consensus on the FT BA Forum is that extra children needing guesting into the Lounges should solve the problem themselves by travelling in J/F.
