Not bad, anyone here have any experience with their Bangkok hotel.

There are a few of them. I stayed at the Novotel Lotus on Sukhumvit Soi 33 the day after New Years Day and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms cost ~US$28 per night after using the US$50 discount from Dream Club.

Just booked a room online, in July for the Tokyo Mercure Ginza, this morning. Everything that *wasn't* working on the site the day before, is now. I can see the rates available, and all the rooms, and I was obviously able to confirm the rooms and pay.

The rate was the advertised and very much discounted 8500 yen per night, which is entirely reasonable for a full service hotel in downtown Tokyo.

I should note that I had sneakily emailed the Mercure Ginza front desk the night before to ask them for their best 'sale rate' by email, and got back 19,500 yen per night. So am pretty happy I found this ad over the weekend. It got me back the money I wasted with USAir (see other thread) on tickets...

There is a new hotel call the VIE, right near the sky train so easy to get around.

This is great. I just got three nights for $79 each at the PUllman hotel in Sydney, which is 5 Star!!! It seems there is one extra step invovled in the booking process which I don't recall usuually getting at the Accor web site but I had no problem booking. Not sure if others are still having trouble?

Am going to Brisbane in June so am going to try for $AU79 at the Novotel there too.

scored the novotel in KUL - not the nicest hotel in the city - but at the price on offers its great

and the new Pullman in Putrajaya - looks interesting albeit a little hard to get to/get around

I'm getting very frustrated with their booking website :evil: I can't find any availability at the super sale prices. I have tried all the tips suggested above by others (and am an A-Club member), but am only getting their usual prices across a number of area/states.

At last a sale site that is worse that Jetstar

Zig, I also spent a bit of time flicking around and I found that you need to be quite flexible with your dates but the cheap rates are definitely there. I just booked the Novotel in St Kilda for late June for $79 a night. Hope you have had more luck since.

Ok, so my destination is less exotic, but 2 nights for 4 of us in the Novotel Canberra costing $158. Can't really be sniffed at, especially seeing as it is being combined with the $1 Virgin Blue fares from a few weeks ago.

Weekend seeing the sights in (or more likely, around) Canberra for 4 people for $166 anyone? It might not be the most exciting place to visit in the locals' eyes, but I haven't been yet, and it would be rude not to visit my new adopted nation's capital.

All I need now is a car hire company to have a sale and the bargain weekend will be complete.:mrgreen:

Canberra really gets bagged out a lot but I will always have a soft spot for the place. And you're right - you really can't complain when you're doing it so cheap! The Novotel there is great (but the parking can be a bit of a pain).

In terms of tourist attractions, you have to see the War Memorial, Parliament House and the National Gallery for sure. Questacon is great if you have kids and the Portrait Gallery, National Library, Canberrra Museum&Gallery and the Natuional Museum are great for a visit,too. The Botanic Gardens are pretty but have got nothing on other capital cities.

Have a coffee in Kingston or Manuka. Go shopping at the Canberra Centre, go for a walk around Lake Burley Griffin or visit Gininderra Village. The nightlife isn't great if you want a big night out (I recommend Knightsbridge Wine Bar in the city for a drink) but there are plenty of fantastic restaurants to try. Have fun!

AnnieP, thanks for the tips, Questacon and the National Museum were definitely on the list of things to do, seems easy to fill a couple of days now that you list it out like that!

Canberra is worth a visit, but don't underestimate the amount of time some things take - I spent far more time in the War Memorial than I would have guessed!
