Saw this post earlier on Point Hacks and I'm intrigued (and considering it).

For A$1,760 you get:
  • A total of 75,000 ALL points (worth ~AU$2,480)
  • 12,000 Status Points.
It's spread over 12 months which is a bit weird but if I'm not wrong, it's basically pre-paying $2,480 of points for $1,760 whilst also ending up 2,000 status points off of Platinum.

The promo that results in this pricing ends tomorrow hence the current thought process. I stay primarily with Accor anyway (and am Accor Plus) so it does seem like it would be a good way of prepaying future travel and fast tracking to Platinum?

Then again, as I understand it, Platinum might not offer me that much more over the Gold that I have now?

I signed up yesterday as I'm not expecting to renew Plat next year, this will change that, and I can easily obtain the value back in ALL redemptions

Had no issues adding the subscription onto existing account with Accor Plus, and first batch of reward + status points has already credited.

Gold to Plat is a massive jump in Asia Pacific.

Indeed - and worth it for access to the Sofitel Millésime club alone!
Free breakfast - à la carte not just a buffet - try the orange and cinnamon crépes in Melbourne.
Access to facilities all day, including office facilities, with soft drinks, coffee, tea and pastries.
High tea in the afternoon and drinks with canapés in the evening.
Without platinum status access to this can add about $400 per night to a room rate.
And then there are the suite night upgrades ...
