think accor plus will be the best I'll get now, with these new rules.
perhaps they might have "bonus status points" from time to time.

really enjoyed being a platinum member for the last ~12 months, will keep it till end of this year I think.
I can understand their reasoning, with raffles joining the program & the new US hotels they need to thin out the platinum members.

Agree, this is the end of the dizzy heights of platinum for me.
Compliments of bonus points.
Same for me, may use my Rydge's card more or perhaps go back to Hilton. On the other hand, the Platinum status doesn't actually do much - the only tangible benefits is both early and late check-in/out.

... And acces to the lounge!

I'll be happy to be able to find 10 nights stay to make silver :( Otherwise it's once a year (or thereabouts) to keep the points turning over.

But then I found a better mid-level deal in the USA given the Wyndham connection with AA.

Happy wandering

For someone like me the cheap Accor hotels in Thailand are really good. So I would be staying there without status to save money and earn some extra points when points promotions are on.

One example is Mercure Pattaya Beach Resort next to the Holiday Inn Pattaya. You can book the Mercure for ~AUD70-80 night where as the Holiday Inn is usually AUD150+. The Holiday Inn is a little nicer but not worth spending double. You can add breakfast for ~AUD20 at either hotel but so many other options around. Plus golf includes breakfast and I don't need a second breakfast.

Just a question regarding the program.

I'm currently Accor plat due to amex plat card, but now Accor isn't partners with Amex. My Plat expires 30th September 2016. I've got 4 stays/11 nights (16000pts) on my account for this year. Does that mean I either need 49 more nights or 9000 more points to retain my Plat level membership?

Yep you (we) need to re-qualify for Platinum the hard way going ahead :(
