Why is it that a search on the Accor site, shows properties that aren’t part of the Accor program?

It’s very misleading IMO.

Especially when the website offers no warning and you’ll only know if you check the App.

For example, Ibis budget Auckland Airport which offers no warning on the website:

It will even allow you to select an Accor Plus rate:

It's only if you check via the Accor App that you see this warning:

This thread is intended to allow us to keep track of hotels that don’t participate in Accor, but still appear in Accor searches.

I thought all Ibis Budget hotels didn’t participate?

Not all

Ibis Budget typically are non participating in ALL as a brand, but they are part of Accor. There are exceptions where some.do partipate.
So it’s like Jetstar results being returned in a Qantas search even though you won’t get any benefit for being a QFF member?

The only way i know how to check on the site is to go to the actual hotel site where it mentions it at the very bottom of the page. The problem is there's no way to get to this link from the search results pages, the only way i know how is to just google the name and choose the first link. Not ideal though, certainly needs to be on the search results page too.

What’s even more annoying is the hotels that don’t accept Accor gift cards for payment. Happened to me at the Mantra on Collins in Hobart. I’d bought some Accor gift cards at a discount to pay. But when I checked out I was told that the hotel didn’t accept them.

There are (or used to be) icons that confirm a property is a participating property.

and, as mentioned above, I believe most, if not all (non pun) Ibis Budget hotels in Oz are now participating but I personally wouldn’t stay in one if a had a choice between that and pins in my eyes. Well, maybe if it was staggering distance to/from an airport and its saving me thousands of dollars by not paying the Oz “departure tax”.

For interests sake, the Ibis budget at MEL now shows as participating, which it did not until quite recently.

This is my hack to find if an Accor hotel is participating or not.

Bookmark the link below and replace the %s with the hotel ID then scroll down to the bottom of the page where it shows the banner if the hotel is participating or not. For some reason, this particular page is not easily accessible when searching for hotels

https://all.accor.com/hotel/%s/index.en.shtml

For example,

ibis budget Auckland Central (which does not participate)
https://all.accor.com/hotel/6487/index.en.shtml

Pullman Auckland (which participates)
https://all.accor.com/hotel/8219/index.en.shtml

I've set this up in Firefox as a keyword bookmark search (not sure how this is done in Chrome) so if I type in "accor 6487" into the browser, it will automatically pull up the hotel page

Alas, not so...it is just that the note on the website advising of non-participation is now in much smaller print!
