Accor plus free with amex platinum charge question

I am accorplus gold which came with my plat charge card . my friend is only silver I called the hotline today and they said he only gets silver and I must have received gold on stays which is incorrect I also have 2 other friends who are Accor gold with no stays .how can I get my silver friend, gold so we can do the qatar match?

There was an oddity last year when the 20 status nights benefit for Accor Plus was launched.

Those with a pre-August Accor Plus renewal date got 20 status nights.

Those with a post-August renewal date got 20 status nights when the benefit was launched, then a further 20 on their renewal before the end of the calendar year. This is likely how you ended up with Gold.

This weird situation was entirely caused by Accor, not Amex. It affected regular paid members of Accor Plus also. I don't think you have any way of getting your friend to Gold without them staying 10 nights this year.

Yes, anyone with an August to December Accor Plus renewal got 40 status nights last year, which explains how the three of you have Gold.

Your Silver friend must have a pre August renewal date for their Accor Plus subscription.

It was also not possible to hold both ibis Business and Accor Plus.

If your friend is in Sydney, ibis budget Sydney Olympic Park is selling for $59.50 per night this week. Booking 10 nights should bump them up to Gold (in addition to the 20 bonus nights).

The terms say "any retail shareholder owning at least 50 bearer shares or 1 registered share" - but from what I've read elsewhere the amount you need is 50 shares, and they're currently $39.37 EUR apiece... I've also heard the Gold upgrade only lasts until the end of the following year. Not ongoing. But perhaps I've read that wrong.

Yes just apply for the Amex benefit around that time.

The other way you could be ALL Gold would be if your QANTAS FF is linked and you have Gold+ Status with QANTAS. It carries over from my recollection (although a quick skim of the website has failed to refresh me on where it is explicitly stated).

They get Silver.
The most likely explanation for the Gold vs Silver is the Accor Plus anomaly last year,

Mine hasn’t been renewed yet either. Same expiry date as yours. I’m going to try calling Amex to get it fixed. Will report back

I had this happen earlier this year, it sorted itself out before the expiry.
