Accor status benefits when booked through alternative site?

I have booked to stay in Brisbane Novotel and was originally going to book direct with accor but found a far far far cheaper and better package on Luxury escapes for the same place.
I am currently Silver status and potentially will reach Gold. Will this booking still count towards my status and will I be able to at least receive my current Silver benefits?
What have others experienced?

On a side note it would be great if you could register your stay on the Accor site using a booking reference number. I'm sure Accor would have the capacity to set this up.

It would not normally be eligible for ALL benefits (but sometimes with LE packages, you get equivalent things)

Given the state of Accor IT, I’m not so sure about that 😊.

Usually, only direct bookings with Accor get Accor credits and benefits. You could try putting your Accor number in when you arrive.

I've got nothing to loose so I'll try this and see how it goes.

You're not wrong. One way or another I'll get my drink. Only thing I'd prefer to get is the status points. Just seems hard to justify myself or work paying over 3 times the price for the same product just to book direct.

In my experience Rydges has matched any promo deals when I have called up to book direct but this has not been the case with Accor

Any recent experiences? (Will let you know at an upcoming stay at Sebel Noosa booked through booking.com)

A friend of ours recently returned from a week at the Sofitel Fiji booked through LE. We had gifted them Accor Gold and they had retained it for this year and had become Plus members too. They had a excellent time but no points or days credited and they were told at check in that this would be the case and benefits wouldn’t be honoured as it wasn’t booked direct

It's pretty standard hotel loyalty practice for 3rd party bookings to be ineligible for status/points (excepting Amex FHR programme and travel agents such as Virtuoso). You sometimes get lucky with status benefits but not entitled to them

Correct however they should still have received the Plus dining discount (and points for any dining spend) as you dont need to be a guest to receive plus benefits; just make sure you show plus card and pay on a credit card which is assosciate with your plus account.

Their package included meals so they only needed to whip out their card for their drinks bill which was happily accepted.
They use Accor Plus at restaurants regularly without stays so no issues there.
They weren’t expecting points from the stay BTW but was just relaying as a data point for the poster above who asked for recent experiences

To be quite honest, you aren't missing much as an Accor Silver. You might get a slightly better view but that's about it. Not much to write home about. Gold isn't that much better either. Indeed, I think most on this forum would agree that the real magic starts to happen at the Platinum status (i.e. 60 nights/year) and above in terms of suite night upgrades, better welcome gifts, breakfast and lounge access, late check-out, etc. Even then YMMV. As an Accor+Platinum I was only offered a 12 PM late checkout (instead of the usual 11 AM normal checkout). Meanwhile as a Marriott Gold I can count on getting 2 PM late checkout at most hotels in the chain.

Nothing recognised, nothing happened, no expectations... fully met!

I use ATPI Corporate travel agents and was told none of my stays count towards Accor which i though was pretty poor.

Yes, that doesn’t sound good. Probably depends on how they make the actual reservations. If it’s using an OTA (or 3rd party) you‘re worse off.

Most corporate TA make reservations that are effectively the same as booking direct. They know how to program in any negotiated Corp rates and discounts etc.

I have been informed that by
Using a TA (including FC for corporate) connected to Accor via GDS should be an eligible booking for points/status IF the agent used the GDS.
That was always my experience. As mentioned in another thread, those bookings rarely if ever appear on your profile (website/app) - even if the TA has provided your number. Which is frustrating, but if your Accor number is in the system - usually all good. If in doubt, ask and provide your number at check-in.

Yes, this is stated in the terms and conditions

Stay booked at a participating hotel at eligible rates (as defined in Article 7.1 ‘Rates Eligible to Earn Points’) via Accor distribution channels (Websites, Accor booking office, hotels) and traditional travel agencies connected automatically to the Accor booking office. Stays booked through a reseller, tour operator or third-party online travel agency (such as Expedia.com, booking.com, etc.) are not considered Eligible Stays and do not earn Points or Eligible Nights towards a Status level.

Guess there is no way to tell if these large TA's use GDS or not.
ATPI clearly don't
