Received notice about this in early November, but didn't see it posted here. Has anyone participated? I note that Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland have all had their day, but Brisbane is coming up on Thursday and Friday this week. I don't really work in the city, but was considering making a trip in to try my luck - anyone have any experiences from the other cities?

How it works:

1. Bring Your Currency:
Collect your leftover foreign bills and coins—no matter how small, even a euro will do!
2. Head to the store near you: It will be in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, then Brisbane on the dates listed below.
3. Donate to Charity: Hand over your foreign currency at the store, any currency and any amount is accepted, and your donation will support local charities and community projects.
4. Be a Member of ALL: Sign up to be a member of ALL at the store for your chance to win — if you’re already a member, you’re good to go!

Brisbane CBD: 28 & 29 November at Queen Street Mall

You type in your details on a tablet. A staff member presses buttons on her computer and the computer chooses your prize which shows up on a big monitor. I got a tote bag as did the person before me. The bag is not worth the effort.

Did you try enter a second time? I looked through the T&C and couldn't see anything about exchanging currency more than once... or attending both days?

Nah, I didnt want to be disappointed a second time.

The prize list includes some nice prizes though so in theory someone will win those.

I went to the Auckland one.

I went to the one in Auckland at the end of the last day of the event. It is exactly described above.

Was hoping membership details (tier/stay history/points balance) may have influence on the prize but perhaps the staff member press the buttons may have more influence.

The event finished at 6pm, I was there at 5:30pm on the last day and the staff claim there are still 3 major holidays to be won. Who knows where the prizes went.

Most people got a coffee voucher (very restrictive rules) and 1 person got a candle while I was there for 30 minutes or so.

I went in Melbourne - the problem is that they seem to have more prizes than contestants of which most are branded merchandise - caps, tote bags, luggage tags, sleep mask, candles etc.

I assume the prizes "drop" at random times and then stack up behind each other for the next entrant to win. So everyone wins... but most people just win some merch.

In Australia they are giving away just over 1800 prizes and >75% are merch... and it is only running for 6 days for a total of 56 hours open (8am-6pm in Sydney and 9am-6pm elsewhere). So effectively there are 32 prizes an hour (or one dropping roughly every 2 minutes). But I reckon they had less than 15-20 actual entries each hour in Melbourne.

So at the end of the period there are a lot of unwon prizes - including quite a few holidays.

I entered twice an hour apart and got a cap and candle. I watched the entrants in between and there were probably 12-15 others - biggest prize won was $150 hotel voucher. This was about 1:30pm on the second day so people would have had an opportunity to find some foreign currency and come along to enter.

I realise now the best option would have been to be there on the very first minute of the first day to try to not win a prize as no prizes would have dropped. You then would go into the second chance draw to win a $2500 Accor voucher. Now that would be worthwhile!

I'm just hoping they have a second chance draw for the unwon holidays and one of my entries snags one. We can always dream.

I got into the draw. But assume I didn’t win as it was supposedly drawn on 10 Dec and I’ve heard nothing. They were meant to publish winners but the page just has a 404 error now!
