I stumbled over this site a few days ago and immediately ran into the "ad-blocker detected" issue. I don't have any standalone ad-blocker installed, so played around (latest IOS, Mini iPad6) with various Apple privacy and security settings for far long ... without any improvement. Tried on older iMac27 (older MacOS), no issues. Digested this forum ... still not making any progress. I understand the concept of "free" product (plus compulsory advertising) to get a product in front of an audience, but am starting to get the impression that this (AFF) is perhaps quite an old product (I retrospectively see from membership dates that AFF isn't just "quite old" ... it's positively geriatric!) that hasn't kept up with an increasing tendency by operating systems to offer their captive users some grass roots insulation from increasing volumes of unsolicited "dross". A simple "you have (say) five more free views available" would allow newbies adequate time to evaluate the site without having to reach for their blood pressure medication. Me? My blood pressure's "well up". $6.00 a month? Nah, not happy ... and WAY too many apparently feeling disgruntled too. Content that's similar to many FREE (and glitch free) "AvGeek" sites. I'm outa' here. "So long and thanks for all the fish" (apologies Douglas).

Perhaps Mac Safari is continually being "improved" and AFF has simply broken down due lack of attention (to modern security and privacy trends) ... ??

Came here to report the same thing. This website no longer works on Mac Safari with the AdBlocker Detected warning coming up even when I do disable it in Safari.
When I came to this forum to leave this message it further blocked even leaving this message!! I had to go into Safari Preferences and disable the extensions (Wipr) entirely even though I'd already instructed Safari not to use them. The ad blocker detect code is particularly aggressive, I've not seen a website do this before, and I'm a dev!! There isn't much point in sending me the news email every week as I can't click on the items even with the ad blocker disabled. A shame as I enjoy this website as a home of sanity! The reason not many people are complaining is that you have to go through a number of steps including disabling the adblock for ALL websites to even leave a message here without being blocked.

I have a workaround for Mac Safari.

Have the website open, click Menu>Safari>Settings for australianfrequentflyer.. Tick 'use reader when available'

Then the newsletter links will open in reader mode before the adblocker refresh kicks in

When you want to read the forums, which will now default to reader, just un-click reader icon on the address bar left of the URL after the page loads in reader view.

I am running Chrome with minimal plugins and I get the adblocker detected come up - I also get the same thing with my iPhone and safari. This is ridiculous. Can the site admins take it back a notch? I'm not blocking ads yet the usability is ridiculously bad right now.

Funny thing is I get ads showing at the same time as the adblocker detected window. WTF???

I am aware that some members are reporting issues with our Adblocker detection software whereby our software detects that an AdBlocker is present while the users says they don't have an AdBlocker. I'm unable to replicate this, so I need your help to investigate the issue.

If you are getting the AdBlocker message and believe you don't have an AdBlocker (or have whitelisted AFF), can you please send me a message with:
1) the exact AFF URL you are trying to view
2) your technical setup including device type, operating system, browser
3) confirm that either you are not using an AdBlocker or if you have whitelisted AFF, what AdBlocker you are using

Once I have this information, I'll be in a better position to trouble shoot the problem.

Thanks for your patience on this.

1-Any homepage article i.e. this one: Most Qantas International Lounges Are Now Open Again
2-iPhone 12 / iOS 15.5 / Safari (up to date for both). Replicated on Chrome app also (latest version 103.0.05060.63
3-Confirmed no use of ad blocker etc. Just built in safari nothing special.

Steps to replicate:
1-Head to home page - i.e. Frequent Flyer Points: Tips, Tricks and Chat - Australian Frequent Flyer

2-Click through article tile i.e.

3-After 1 or 2 second delay (when article likely fully loads), ad blocker then displays.

The only unique thing, I think might be causing this is use of iCloud Private Relay - more info here: About iCloud Private Relay

Getting this issue all the time.

Windows 10, Chrome 103.0.5060.114 (Official Build) (64-bit), vanilla install no plugins.

Both on AussieBB, and on Telstra 5G tethering. Using built in DNS, and 8.8.8.8

Hi admin - still getting this issue - Safari on Mac OS Monterey. Happening with essentially any written article I try and read. The forums work fine. I don't have any adblockers installed.

@kooky - thanks for the "reader icon" tip! It's the only way to read articles at the moment :(

1. Any article linked in the Gazette email
2. Windows 10 Enterprise Build 19042.1826, Microsoft Edge Version 103.0.1264.71
3. No adblocker installed - work IT dept wouldn't allow it even if I wanted it

Happening on iOS all the time now. In both Safari and Firefox, no adblockers, on Telstra 5G and AussieBB at home, and O2UK and DE abroad. Ads clearly shown.
