I am trying to add an infant to an existing classic reward on QF connecting with BA.
The call centre say because of the BA flight, they need to create a separate booking, and link that booking to my booking. Second booking needs to pay taxes.
Is it normal to have this second booking, and also to pay taxes?
I don't really like those two separate bookings, I am concerned this will be a pain to manage down the line, i.e. if a schedule change happens etc...
Thoughts?

I've added an infant to three QF reward bookings a few months ago (flights with JL, AF and QF) via the Facebook and Twitter message. Infant was added to the current bookings and linked to one of the passengers. Only had to pay $4.70 in taxes for the JL flight, not sure why the others did not incur any fees.

I've read of a few issues with getting this sorted via the call centre hence the approach via social media and can confirm it was a very smooth process. It's also handy to have it all in writing if they screw anything up in the process.

Thanks all. I ended up calling several time until I got Aukland, the agent patiently worked through the booking until everyone was on the same original booking. This also unlocked seat bassinet seletction, which wasnt possible otherwise. Ticket reisued, and all good now.

It s a bit disapinting that the first two call I made (one last week, which I then hangup before any change, and one yesterday) both agents got advised by some internal support team to have this separate booking (apparently because of the BA flight), yet it was done correctly today by a better trained agent.
