Strategy to obtain US Amex

Did you manage to get verified from here in oz ? Any tips ? I’m currently stuck with having to provide a local US ID .
I was not required any US ID back in March, just applied for P2 in Sep too, did not provide any US ID except ITIN. Thanks to that P2 got nearly 700 credit score now just from Sep but could not expedite the card to AU, had to pay for mail forward to get the card.

No. Venture X requires over 700 credit score.
I got the no annual no bonus easy to get approval one. Then now got upgraded to 1.5% cash back everything. Something just to build credit history and length of credit

If you're getting pre-approved and you're happy with the card then I don't see why you wouldn't go for it. I know that you can still be denied but doesn't hurt.

FWIW, I was pre-approved and got approved when I applied.

looking at this card too - for the pre approved with C1 - do you have a checking with C1 already or new customers
I m new customer

Hi mate. Your one was c1 venture x? Was this your first card with c1?

US Banks don't care about people paying down their balance early. Some banks care about cycling credit (ie spending $20K in a month with a $10K credit limit by paying down the card and spending up to the limit again), but Amex is not one of them. However, Amex does seem to have some threshold where it will subject you to FR no matter what — it's rare to see someone who has spent $50K in a month not get a FR even if they pay down the balance immediately upon charges posting.

I did the 'Check spending power' on my green card, and it said they wouldn't currently approve a $15k charge.

If I was to transfer $15k in first, then make the charge, would this work at all ? Or am I just setting myself up for a world of FR pain ?

Was thinking about purchasing business class flights for an elderly family member who doesn't care about points - but would net me 45k points due to 3x travel on Green...

I believe they would frown on placing the account in credit .

just curious - 15K USD of 15K AUD - because that might only be 10K USD - I just put a 15K AUD Christmas party dinner bill on my green last night (annoyingly the restaurant is coding as general at this stage which looks like only 1 pp$ - would have used my Australian platinum of I knew)

23k aud, so around 15k usd

I have only had my green card for 3-4 months, so don’t have the history yet I suspect. The biggest charge I have so far placed was around USD 4600, and that triggered a ‘pay down 2600 please’ email…

I don't think the first option is particularly attractive because if Amex declines the charge for any reason, you're stuck with a $15K credit balance on the card. And Amex will not like that.

I'd be more inclined to attempt the charge and, if it goes through, pay off the card as quickly as you can.

I do that on big spend months to avoid my outstanding balance climbing too high.
