Adding domestic leg to Qantas Rewards flight

Hi Experts,

How can I book a Qantas rewards flight from HYD to CBR? When I search this route on the Qantas website, no results appear. However, flights are available when I search for HYD to MEL (SriLankan Airlines) and MEL to CBR (Qantas). Is it possible to combine these bookings to ensure protection against delays and to maintain international baggage allowance for the domestic leg of the journey? Any advice appreciated.

Thank you,

What happens when you try to book them as part of a multi-city?

Regards,

BD

As the others have said, try the multi-city tool. If your flights show up, don't be surprised if after getting past selecting flights and moving to the payment screen, it errors out, saying "It can't process the itinerary...". You'll have to call and book on the phone. If they try and charge you a booking fee, point out the error which means they shouldn't charge that fee.

Thanks experts, Such a noob I am, didn't even think of multi city option. Looks like the connection time is the problem here. It error out saying
"The departure time for one flight is only 170 minutes after the arrival time of the previous flight. The Minimum connecting time required is 180 minutes. Please change your search criteria and resubmit the search"

In the scheme of things that’s a long connecting time.

I be running around Madrid airport several times now on connecting times of around 45 minutes

In a recent episode where the connecting time was barely 40 minutes at Athens, the inbound flight was LATE so Aegean held the connecting flight (to Cairo) as 30 PAX were on it

Does anyone know if qantas call centre will be able to book this kind of flights?

Are there no later flights MEL-CBR on the day you're travelling?
There is one other , when i add the it fails with a different error duting payment page. Says we are unable to book your flights . start over

That's when you call up to get it done over the phone - and get them to waive the assistance fee as the web site won't let you book it.

unless the OP has run into the ‘block’ of trying to add domestic connectors to international itineraries. In those cases, very little that can be done to add the sector unless possibly getting through to Hobart.

I didn't know Hobart could override married segments. Anyway not relevant for OP since its not QF-QF.

Yes, I hadn’t thought of that… swapping airline tables will charge the full price of the connector anyway. Should be able to be processed.

Or possibly phantom availability. A bit hard to guess what the website issue is (it has so many). The fact that the previous attempt that didn't meet MCT failed and said that was the reason gives some hope that it is not a block on a domestic connector.

After waiting for more than half an hour rep told me i need to contact Indian customer care.😅

Agent i spoke to says they cannot override minimum connection time. Is this true or should i try my luck again?

No. Agents cannot override minimum connecting times.

You need to go for the later flight.
Hmm.. agent told me the later flight does not have reward availability even though i can see it in the website. Says the availability not reflected accurately in the qantas website.

Given you’ll be swapping from Sri Lankan to Qantas, you’ll habe to pay the full sector price for the qantas flight anyway. So there’s no huge advantage - cost wise - of trying to include the Qantas sector on the Sri Lankan ticket.

Just buy the QF sector separately as a new, separate ticket. You might have to pay for an additional bag, but in terms of delay, the max it will cost you is 6k points cancellation if your UL flight is significantly delayed.
