Adding Velocity Number to Air NZ Booking

From my reading of the alliance rules - you got away with that one but shouldn't have. NZ status pax purchasing a DJ fare do not get any additional baggage entitlement beyond what the fare offers (and vice versa - DJ status pax do not get additional baggage allowances on a NZ fare).

That is true to trans-Tasman flights. But the FFP partnership covers more than the trans-Tasman alliance routes.

From the DJ site, Velocity Gold entitled to the following. So outside the Tasman, Velocity Gold gets Airpoints Gold allowance. Reciprocally, Airpoints Gold gets Velocity Gold allowance, ie 32kg on the Saver fare within Australia. That's my understanding anyway.

That is only true for T-T services. On domestic DJ services:

Virgin Australia Group - Co-operation Partners - Airpoints - Air*New*Zealand - New Zealand Site
...
When travelling on a domestic Australia flight on Virgin Australia or on a V Australia flight Gold and Gold Elite Airpoints members are entitled to one additional piece of baggage up to 23kg.

Slightly OT

I'm thinking of booking a little vacation across the tasman with the current NZ sale, $200 return not a half bad price for a little family outing (NZ - $150 off return flights across the ditch)

I've never actually flown Air NZ
Given the same price and similar flight times, would anyone suggest either DJ/NZ for the single aisles services?

I'll be Velocity Gold then probably (hopefully), I don't think we can unlock the Space+ seats unless we are traveling on Works fare, which we probably won't.

I too am waiting for my Air NZ flight CHC AKL, which I took on the first day of the alliance. Everything except the Points/Statuse credits has been seamless.....

Am hoping we are not going to have to wait 4 to 6 weeks every time!

My Points and SCs posted 22 Aug for travel on 01 & 03 Aug. I lodged a retro claim about two weeks after travel.

No worries, as long the ANZ booking has your DJ number in their system then when you turn gold you have the lounges, without flashing a card to vaildate your status , as the two airlines data exchange are live, instant updates..

Was on an NZ flight last night. I have paid lounge access on my Silver so had access to the lounge. (Will be Gold in a few days when SC's come through). The lounge is great, has a nice relaxed feel. However, the flight was nothing special. Travelled as Silver on Flexi but I wouldn't say it is any different what-so-ever to travelling red.

Velocity SCs for flights operated by another carrier?

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place for this question. I'm about to book SYD-HKG-LHR on Air NZ in PE. The first leg, SYD-HKG (NZ4051) is operated by Virgin Atlantic. Does this still accrue 150 Velocity SCs?

Thanks,
-n

SC's and points are earned based on flight numbers and not traveling metal. If you are traveling on NZ number, you'll earn at that rate.

Just reviving this thread. I have both NZ and Velocity membership and have a couple of flights on Air NZ coming up. As they are discount economy seats they have no points earn but SC earn on NZ but with high threshold plus ability to earn points and SC on Velocity combined with family pooling am thinking Velocity may be better placed to credit too.

Current flights have AIR NZ # on them, how easy is it to change to get Air NZ # instead?

I told the check in agent to replace the Air NZ # with my Velocity number. The points got credited within a week from memory.
