Restaurant booked and deposit paid to secure tables for 22pax. Since this is a large booking there is a minimum spend of $35 per person. This is a requirement of the restaurant based on large bookings.

I was just thinking (which happens from time to time), that having frequented Chinese restaurants in the past I've noticed that quite often a set menu banquet is often available, and since there is a min per head charge, myself and Mrs G would be willing to participate in such if a table of like-minded AFFers thought the same. I'm sure the restaurant would be able to tailor a menu to a set price per head, say starting at $40. Should lead to a selection of dishes to try. Any takers?

OK I just had a quick chat with the Wah Hing Restaurant and drafted out a quick menu for $40 per head. Full details to follow but I need a minimum of eight people for this.

The menu will consist of:
3x entrees
6x mains: consisting of a duck, chicken, steak, pork, seafood and vegetable dishes
Steamed rice, chinese tea.

Regarding the BYO status, they only allow BYO 750mL bottles of wine with a $15 corkage per bottle.

How about an order of Special Fried Rice and a beer?

Banquet for 8 people, incl 6 mains; I think 18-20 odd are going. My maths isn't very good.

Nobody stress, I'll go along with the flow and am very grateful to the organisers. But if there is a choice, I'd normally order my own meal.

Starters:
Steamed pork dim sim
Satay beef
Vege spring roll

Mains:
Wok tossed chilli steak
Wah Hing chicken
Crispy roast duck
Fish in spicy XO sauce
Pork cutlet in plum sauce
String beans with chilli garlic
Steamed rice

Chinese tea

Hopefully I can get at least 8 takers
