I have made a last minute decision to fly to Costa Rica and need to be there for an event on the 21st of June and spending a few days in New York afterwards. I have total flexibility so dates will not be an issue
So between us we have close to 1,000,000 QF points and due to a lack of flying in the past 2 years have no status. Due to the huge number of points we were trying to keep the cost down and utilise some points.

My first thought was to maximise our SC earn by booking some xASA but I am having some issues and thought it was worth asking the experts!!

The routing I had come up with so far was as follows
19/6 ADL-SYD-AKL-SCL - JASA ?
21/6 SCL-SJO ???
23/6 SJO-JFK ??
25/6 JFK-LAX ??
26/6 LAX-NAN-AKL in J
29/6 AKL-SYD-ADL - JASA ?

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I hope I have posted this in the correct section and look forward to some suggestions. As per the thread rules, happy to offer gratuity for the assistance.
:)

If you can be flexible with dates all 3 of you can go ask - hkg - jfk in business on the 18th June with Cathy Pacific.

139,000 points one way for business all the way. Then make your own way jfk - sju.

Just seen you want to maximise status credit earn....

It's the World Cup so I would assume most award seats on Qantas would have already been taken.

Cathy release extra award seats a few weeks before that are not yet sold so if you needed to go there, want to use points and want to fly business then personally this is your best option :)

Before you do anything else, go and check when the last activity was on both of your freq flyer accounts. If you haven't flown for 2 years I hope you've had some other kind of activity that has kept your account active eg WWEDR or credit card spend as nil activity for 18 months will see all your points wiped.

Also, I know there are two freq flyer accounts being utilised for points however are both of you travelling or only you?

You may be able to get an partner award seat for the return sector ex LAX but going over the first date that the system will allow you to search for is 22 Jun so you must need to book 7 days advance ex NAN. You don't earn points or SC earned on an FJ partner award.
