Seems that family transfers online has been down for over a week - you have to call up and they'll waive fees.

Surely within 24-48hrs it should be fixed up, rather than leaving it for a week+?

Is there a multi-city option for international on the VA website? I'm trying to find fares for SYD-DOH and LHR-SYD but can only see a multi-city option for domestic flights. Thanks.

Whats the thought processes on VA availability on QR? I am VA Platinum but doubt it means much. Are seats, if any, being released very close to time?

Collecting with Velocity or Aeroplan Domestically... Hello! I am an Air Canada (AC) Star Alliance Gold member. Newly moved to Australia. I have a Star Alliance Visa Card. I fly within Australia a lot and I'm wondering if, now that I have GOLD Status with AC, is it more advantageous to sign up onto Virgin Velocity Rewards and collect on domestic flights there, or should I continue to collect points on my AC account?

Yes it's possible, you can manually edit the URL of a domestic multi city to change the destinations from domestic ones to international ones:

It's worth noting pricing is not amazing as those economy are a choice fare compared to $2636 for a return SYD-DOH-LHR-DOH-SYD (Just $42 more).

If you have Gold status (50K, 75K or Super Elite) with Air Canada you get lounge access on Virgin domestic but no other perks therefore if travelling a lot within Australia it'd make sense to switch over.

It's worth noting that Virgin recently moved to a full revenue based system effectively moving all status earning to the Air Canada equivilient of "Status Qualifying Dollars". To get Gold status on Virgin you'll need to spend AU$6000 on Virgin Australia flights in the first year and then AU$4800 to retain Gold. Points are also earned based on spend with 4 points per every AU$1 spent, you can then redeem them on flights starting from 5,900 points (for a short flight like Sydney to Melbourne under 600 miles - noting this pricing is the starting redemption price).

In short to get the same level status that you hold on AC you'd need to spend $6000 and then for every $1475 spent you'd also get a free flight under 600 miles.

Hi there,

I've been looking to book QR to Europe with Velocity points via DOH. There's plenty of award availability in J to DOH from SYD but I'm struggling to find any availability with Velocity points in J from DOH to anywhere in EUR. Any tricks/airports that I could look at?

Are you looking at dates close to the end of Virgin's calendar? Some cities DOH-xx_ in Europe are less points on a standalone basis than others (e.g. Athens, Malta, .... there may be others). You can then book these as 2 separate awards as the combined points is only 5000 more than SYD-DOH-xx_. Not sure if this helps but it means you could have a stopover in DOH and / or be more flexible on dates.

ON MARCH 23, I see DOH-MLA for 44,500 and DOH-FRA for 60,000 (But not many other cites - I tried LHR, ATH, CDG) but there are 100's of options.

Thanks that's helpful! I am indeed looking towards the end of march but really only trying to do a dummy booking. My travel will be in Oct-26.

Frankfurt doesn't have 3 seats together in J though, that's going to be another challenge. Athens seems to have a few.

VA awards are only released 330 days out so 330 days from today is 24/3/26.
3 J awards are always more difficult.
And in QLD school holidays start on April 5th in 2026. Private schools sually start a week earlier so more competition for awards. I do notice that trying to book SQ J awards during school holidays the availability just stops.
More school holidays in October so definitely watch at the 330 day mark.

I though I saw it somewhere that QR are only releasing 2x J seat awards to partners on many routes
