ADL Dinner and Drinks - 19 September 2014

. . . What is the criteria to attend this prestigious event? It's just after 10pm, I'm back in Austin (and hating it) and planning a visit to see my folks in Adelaide because anywhere in the world - yes, even Adelaide (sorry to my SA friends and esteemed members here, exclude yourselves from by vile statement ) is better than here!I know I have only posted a few times - well there has been more, but inexplicably the posts have disappeared - very odd as I wasn't notified I had committed a cardinal sin and was to be punished for my digression!I look forward to Mr. Buzzard adding me to the list as a Gold attendee, and I will confirm sometime in the next week or so my attendance. Reading Mr. Buzzards other postings, I see an affinity for good vino - I will try and visit a wine merchant I have made friends with here and see if he has any Staglin Estate Cab Sauv (2010) - a drop from the Gods themselves! If in stock, I shall purchase a couple of bottles, one of which we will donate to our taste buds, the other can be donated to the attendees as a door prize or similar. . . Stupid

It will be a shame if medhead can not attend, being one of the founding ADL dinner & drinks members he has much to add to such events, and these events provide a great time to catch up and discuss all things travel & social ... While I have not always agreed with some of his points of view, I do try and do my best to respect the opinions, beliefs and interests of others... Medhead, I do hope its a temporary situation (being in the "no way in hell category") and hopefully see you at some future events when the "time is right"

Claire, there is no criteria. EVERY AFF member is welcome to attend. Come along and don't be shy - it was only September last year that I attended my first event and have never looked back. My biggest regret is that I did not attend the previous event because I was scared, thinking that I would not fit in with all these "high flying types". How wrong was I! This is still amongst the nicest bunch of people I have ever met. I look forward to updating you to Platinum.

I have been keeping my eye on this event in anticipation of a last minute inclusion but I have just found I will be in Hong Kong 18th, 19th and 20th Sept so I am not sure whether I should be disappointed about missing out on ADL or pleased to be back in Hong Kong . I think the company, drinking and partying in ADL will be better. I will be watching for reports.
