The call centre can select seats more than 2 weeks out. I've got bookings I made with them for October that they've already selected seats for me.

10AM is 0000 UTC

Good catch. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

I remember back in 2008 our entire organisation's IPTel systems fell over, because someone hadn't installed the patch that told the central servers that it was a leap year. At 1100 (EDT, or 0000 UTC) 29/Feb every phone fell over and froze.

Offices are so quiet when noone can make phone calls...

has anyone experienced quirks with seat selection?

I'm flying SYD-OOL (outbound 7ish PM on the 20th, home 7am on the 24th).
The outbound leg was available for me to select in the morning on the 6th, but it still says "not available yet" for the return leg?

Yes it happens. When it does, phone the status line and they'll seat select for you.....even seats more than 2 weeks out.

For Domestic or Long Haul International? They've always been able to do International excluding trans tasman (they only have 777's and they're all the same config).

I've never been able to have the Plat desk allocate a DOM flight for me at T-14 Days (they've all categorically stated that you need to wait until T-14 Days).

Yes domestic. They were selected by the reservations team, not the plat desk.

So 14 days out can Elites select row 3 on 737s online at no exit row penalty cost?

I did row #3 on line this week for same day flight - no issues.

Just wondered how far ahead that was possible.

For a recent long haul trip I called up 14 days prior to the outbound leg to do seat selection for the domestic part as you can't do that online. The gold line was able to do that and when I logged in found I was also allocated the same seat for the domestic sector of the return flight which was about 5 weeks out. Previously I had the gold line tell me they'd make a note about the seat selection for the return flight as they noted I'd be on holidays and would have better things to do than call them up again! That was while the site was down for long haul details, so I'm not sure what exactly happened there. They ended up putting me on a direct long haul flight with no domestic connection, so I don't really have any idea of the real outcome of that!

What's the go withsavers being able to select seats? I've got a flight on Friday and still nooption to select seats. I thought this became available 14 days ahead?

I booked a saverfare about a month or two before that and at the time of booking, was allowedto select seats.
