Re: Advice on booking J tickets to the USA with frequent flyers (Qantas and AADvantag

So I've book keeping an eye on Aadvantage award seats as they are relased for September/October next year so I can book to come back from Tampa through to Perth using my AA miles.

It was all looking normal until the last few weeks - now whenever I look up award flight availability there is no business class at all for months... whereas before there was quite a bit. Does anyone know what is happening with that? I know award seats arent guaranteed to be available. It is just that this seems to be a change in policy (there's not a single J award seat available on any day between now and the most recently released date in October 2014) rather than unavailability over a short period due to demand.

I also checked routes going out of Orlando, Miami, Chicago, and LA with no business class flights on any of those routes.

US and AA merger I would say may have something to do with it - but thats only a guess
