Advice on champagne

For those in SA last week I did a lot of searching around online store by store, about all I could find was La Grande Dame for similar prices mentioned earlier ($230?). Either all were gone after the first few days of the deals or they mostly skipped SA, tho earlier this year we did have the big Tattinger/Landon/Perrier-Jouet/Pommery sale.

Still, would be really keen on some discount Billecart-Salmon or Louis Roederer if it ever makes it to these deals, never found myself with a bottle of either!

We had a bottle of the Charles de Cazanove 2007 and Charles de Cazanove NV the other day. Both are very good, and great value for the quality and price.

Bollinger has launched the premier edition of its first new Champagne cuvée since 2008 - PN VZ 15
As the name implies, it is a 100% Pinot Noir built on a core of fruit from Verzenay and based on the 2015 vintage.
Most of the base wines are from Verzenay, with additions from Aÿ, Bouzy and Tauxières, and reserve wines from 2009 and 2010.
Each release of PN will showcase a different cru from the base year that highlights its distinctive terroir and taste.
The price will be in between Special Cuvée and La Grande Année.

The wine goes on sale in Australia on September 1. For the first month of release it will be an exclusive with Dan Murphy’s. $200

sorry, that was the shelf price - i forgot about 10% off 6pks and 5% off WISH, which made it $55.58 :)

While not a champagne, we had a bottle of Wicks 2013 "Pamela" sparking chardonnay & pinot noir.
It was wonderful, and on par with most big name NV champagnes.
For about $25, it is great value.
