Advice on whisky

The Sullivans Cove blue label is wonderful! But at over $400 a bottle it needs a very special event (or drinking companion).

As I said at the tasting, it's not the bottle you share with your bogan mates.

One of the other people at the tasting mentioned his friends mix their whiskey with coke. I told him, You need better friends :)

Just cheaper whisky when they are around. Like JW Red label instead of any Blue Labels - Johnnie or Sullivans;)

I'm trying to locate a supply of Chivas' Lochan Ora. Does anyone know of any retailers that stock it?

Thanks
JB

I've done a bit more work and it would seem that its no longer available world-wide. I have no idea why though!?

I have a similar difficulty with Inniskillin ice wine. Nobody seems to sell it in Australia anymore. It is even hard to find at fine dining restaurants.
There is some availability outside Australia.

Not selling well? Liqueurs can go curdly (Is that a word? You could maybe make a home version like some do with Irish Cream Liqueur.

Bought the Select Cask late last year Costco for $82. Came with 2 nosing glasses.
Nicks $70 currently.
Found the Select Cask just plain ordinary.
I would highly recommend the PX cask, 1Litre and $100 at Sydney Airport

EBay 20% off, code "Premium", ends 28/2/18
Some selections: Firstchoice Liquor,
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie $72
Lagavulin 16YO $93.60

GoodDrop
Dewars Signature $160
Johnnie Walker Blue 750ml $151.20

The Japanese have come up in the world of Whisky, recently taking out some major awards. One of my favourites is single malt Miyagikyo from Nikki Whisky. Best part it can be bought at a supermarket in Japan, for a bit less than duty free, and if you keep the checkout docket, does not count towards you duty free purchases.
Also enjoy Glen Deveron highland single malt aged 16 years.
Cheers,
Dee.

Just noted that Nicks have some good prices on Glanfarclas 15/18/21/25 yo's at the moment.

Nicks Glenfarclas "specials" been offered for quite some time, in fact since early 2017.
That's when I bought the 17YO and it's still the same offer!!
Anyway for Glenfarclas, one is missing out if Nicks and GoodDrop are not on your list.
For even better discounts, try GoodDrop on Ebay when there's 20% off, which just expired 28/2/18.
Next promotion shoud be soon based on previous experience, eg 25YO $172.

Ta! Just bought 4 bottles so will have to wait a while now...

GoodDrop prices seem essentially the same if you include freight to those of Nicks but I'll keep an eye on them. Interesting their EBay store prices are significantly higher on Glanfarclas. Strange.

4 Bottles of Glenfarclas!! All same vintage? Glenfarclas must be special to you.

I bought a few bottles last week:
Glenfiddich XX - $105 MyBottleShop (Groupon $5 for $50)
Bruichladdich Classic Laddie - $72 First Choice @Ebay 20% off
Laphroaig Lore - $145 MyBottleShop (Groupon $5 for $50)

BTW Nicks also on Ebay, "nickswinemerchants" and prices are the same as on main site.
However there's always some offer around and at least 5% off.

No, the ones above. Couldn’t decide so bought all four.:p

Just loved this Sauternes Cask Matured which I bought at the distillery couple of years back but can’t get it in OZ, or would be too expensive.
