We could soon have direct flights from MEL to DIL - albeit a once-per-week red-eye service.

I don't see any flights on sale yet.

One of the owners of the airline owns the casinos in Dili... time to place your bets:

YesNo
Will these routes even go on sale?$1.5$7
Will these routes even commence operation?$2$10
Will they post someones passport information online?$1$10
Will they give you food poisoning? $1$10
Will the MEL route last more than 6 months?$100$1
Will QF pull out if they commence to DRW?$10$2
Will AN pull out if they commence to DRW?$20$4
Will load factors be worse than VA on the HND route?$1$100

Interesting. Any tourism there, or is accommodation etc aimed at military visitors? I went to Iraqi-Kurdistan in 2010 when tourist travel was in its infancy, and in some parts like Sulaymaniyah the hotels and food was rather pricey because of the soldiers on rec leave had cash to burn.

I've been eyeing Timor Leste for potential bird watching travel. 36k RT from BNE each.

Well, no sign yet of any Melbourne flights, but Aero Dili has just launched Dili-Xiamen once per week. 🤷‍♂️

Guess the laundry still needs to be done and it can’t be done at Crown or Star anymore…
