That's right, sports fans, a double F lounge run!

How does it work?
  • Sat 24 Apr 2010: JQ35 SYD (T1) - MEL (T2) dep 1515 arr 1645
  • Mon 26 Apr 2010: JQ3 MEL (T2) - SYD (T1) dep 1415 arr 1540

Update Notes (04/03/2010)
  1. JQ's website gaves the departure time for JQ3 as 1515. Of course the flight cannot be a mere 25 minutes long. This has now been corrected.
  2. There are no JQi flights from MEL-SYD scheduled for Fridays any more, so no Friday F runs. :(

Latest Flight Prices (04/03/2010)
Code:
[b][u]Date Flight Sector JSav JFlx SCls[/u][/b]
24APR JQ 35 SYD-MEL $ 79 $269 $329
26APR JQ 3 MEL-SYD $169 $269 $329

Given there's a day in between (Sun 25 Apr 2010, or the real Anzac day), there will also be a chance for some of us to either do something in MEL, meet up with resident (or passers-through) MEL AFFers or the like.

I guess this isn't a do as such, but then again I seem to recall that any event with at least 4 or 6 people counts as a do. Either way, it fits in this forum, and the more the merrier!

Everyone is welcome to participate in either or both runs, and any activities which can be organised in MEL.

What you need to know:
  • F lounging is provisional on their being enough WPs (there must be one WP for every non-WP).
  • Non-WP participants who can't be guested into the F lounge might be able access, or be guested into, the J Lounge.
  • SOs are welcome, of course.
  • Although the QF group are progressively trying to get rid of domestic flights which leave from international terminals, as of this post's timestamp the mentioned run flights are on sale and are available. However, of course no one can guarantee that these flights will still be on when the date comes around. We might be moved to real domestic flights, so no F lounge :(. But let's cross that bridge when it happens.

Activities in MEL will be decided through the course of this thread, but the main reasons to get this posted up now are:
  • Gather interest and start pairing WPs with guests.
  • Book your flights if you are interested - there's no telling how fast the cheapest bucket fares will sell out.
  • Think of ideas, activities, meet-ups, venues etc. for MEL. Also if people want to pair up to save on accommodation, this is the thread to do it.

So please give your ideas and indicate your attendance (including +1s if necessary). Please read these statuses carefully!
  • "No Show": I'm scratching - not attending this do at all.
  • "Standby": Interested in attending, but not committing anything yet.
  • "Boarding": Participating and committed
If you are going to do the F runs, try to avoid being "Boarding" status if you haven't booked your flights yet.

Please also indicate if you are "Boarding" (or even "Standby") whether you are interested/participating in:
  • Saturday F run (SFR) SYD-MEL
  • Melbourne meet-up on Sat night / Sun day / Mon morning (MEL). This code may be expanded to others as we think of other activities.
  • Monday F run (MFR) MEL-SYD
And don't forget to give your QFF status.

OK? Good! Let the madness begin!

Brilliant idea anat0l, crossing fingers that terminals hold.

List me as Standby, SFR Y, MEL Y, MFR Y, QPNB.

Standby on the Melbourne meetup.

Flights unlikely, but who knows maybe I will do one way or the other.

Who comes up with these ideas.;)

Yes of course I will be there; I just need to wait for the next big QF sale to get to and from Sydney.

Don't think this will be do-able for me. I'd need to fly to SYD to take the flight back to MEL to go back to SYD to go back to MEL (and I missed the QF sale the other day).

Of course, if time permits and i'm in the country i'll try and come:)

(and I missed the QF sale the other day).

Apologies for that. We only thought of the idea the other day when the sale was on. Even if I created this thread as soon as we concocted it, you'd need to rush like mad (handful of hours) to take advantage of the sale in conjunction with this do.

And who am I to take the credit; you can give that to Bundy Bear and samh004. Perhaps I've missed someone in the kudos there, but it would be criminal if I were to take any.

P.S. updated first post to this post. drewbles, I won't scratch you yet. You can always join us when we're in MEL, that is, if you are in the country, as you say.

anat0l,

Put Sue and I down as standby please.

If we both travel I will have to guest Sue and if only I travel I will guest whom ever.

I will plan to confirm tomorrow.

Hope to see you there. I've put you down for both flights at the moment - refinement can come later.

Although, shouldn't Sue be a WP by then?

A thought for MEL-based AFF'ers -- would anyone be interested in taking the Friday off to do the JQ FLounge run up to SYD, then joining everyone else the following day for the run back down to MEL? A FLounge late brekkie in SYD would be a marvellous way to numb the effects of the night before.. :p

anat0l, pls put me on Standby for the SFR; I'll talk to my credit card and see what I can manage!

I can't find a JQ International flight on the Friday. :(

I'll be there for the Melbourne meet-up if I'm in town, so standby for that. :)

No show for the flights unfortunately.

I never thought of that one! That's a good idea. :D  I'll add it to the events list.

Done. This is probably the last update for me for the day before my edit window expires.

notzac,

Thanks for the good intentioned thought. I have been looking for a better option and thought for a moment that you may have found it.

As they say in the classics 'Bugger'

I can't find a JQ International flight on the Friday. :(
Ah yes, they've gotten rid of them. Boo. :(
Oh cough. Well, that throws that idea.
Looks like JQ have removed that Friday flight altogether after March 2010! :(
March 26th is the last operation of the Friday flight.

Generally, new schedules come out late March (in line with "traditional" daylight savings).

The current schedule ends 27th March 2010. I guess, now JQi are getting another 332, they don't need this positioning flight any more.

Just send me a PM's with the EXACT text including formats quoted and I'll update for you ...
