There’s supposedly about 900 people booked through the Swans. Thats about a third of the passengers! So there will be a lot of red and white on this cruise.

For any chocolate lovers out there (YKWYA) two recommendations in Hobart

Coal River Farm shop in the Cat and Fiddle Arcade. BTW we will be berthing at Macquarie Wharf No 3, E-W if we are first in, NS if not.







These are fabulous (but expensive - think $2.50/chokkie)



If you are going outside Hobart, you'll find the farm on the road to Richmond from Cambridge (about where the airport is). Great place for lunch. Need to book.

Nutpatch, opposite Parliament House. Last time I was there, they were a bit sensitive about pics being taken in the shop. Ask first (as you would do anyway, I know )

if you are into gin, its a matter of avoiding the gin places rather than finding them.

For a nice feed of fish for lunch, you can go to any of the fish punts in Constitution dock (next to Lark Cellar Door), Muirs restaurant (the red roof between the two docks - upstairs is a la carte, downstairs bistro) or Fish Frenzy at the beginning of the shed on Elizabeth St Pier Fish Frenzy, Hobart Tasmania | Seafood restaurant serving fish & chips, salad and hot chowder on Hobart’s waterfront | Now accepting WechatPay, Alipay, BestPay

Most people should have their boarding passes by now and I suspect that they all say 'Check-in Window 1230 - 1500'. For those who wish to drop bags off the baggage tags are also available to be printed.

I don't believe there is such a thing as the correct time to avoid the crowds. We are going to meet a couple of others between 1300 and 1330.

Typically, on Princess, are the cabins ready by say 12:30 or 1:00? That would be considered very early on the other cruises I've done.

I think that's a bit early however you can always find your stateroom and see.

Another SMALL thing I think I forgot to mention.

As soon as you are in your stateroom and are able, turn on the tele and watch the safety presentation then go to your muster station and checkin.
If there are two of you the system is smart enough to know if both people are in the room so you can't cheat the system.

+1 for Coal River Farm for those who have the opportunity to get outside of Hobart. Seeing this is definitely making me want to go back to Tassie soon!

Damn, I just checked my booking and we are too late to cancel.

@straitman can you confirm or otherwise what my friend told me about taking your own wine aboard. If it’s a single bottle you’ll be okay as long as you are supposed to drink it in your cabin. Other bottles they will charge $20 each corkage, put a little label on it and you can have it with meals in the restaurant.

I’d be inclined to take a few nice bottles; from the cellar, so zero cost really so $20 would be would be an imposition but sort of okay.

Does it all sound like the way it works?

I went looking for the corkage charge on the website etc - A$30/bottle!!! Ya kidding me, right?

Looks like all my worries were unnecessary.

Those lovely no-name wines presented in the Plus Package are simply being modest!!
