AFF Cruise #2. Rerun. Crown Princess 4 nights 25-29 January 2025

A place for a stadium? This is the AFL and government’s preferred site. In fact their only site. Very controversial. The alternative site is hard to describe, but a bit beyond the crane in the centre, partly built out into the river. The private enterprise alternative would be underwritten by apartments, hotel and other commercial things within the complex. Would have much better transport access and have more room to move. So of course it’s been ruled out by the government.

How are you managing on a much larger and mainstream ship RooFlyer? From memory only Ponant and Silversea in the past.
Like the SilverSea classic cruise I did recently, not really my cup of tea going forward.

Even though there is a large number of passengers on board, it is a large ship with probably dozens of bars and restaurant etc venues. So I have been surprised
that just about everywhere you go is crowded. As in, difficult to get a seat in any of the venues.

This is one of the smaller ships in the world with 3000 pax - the new Royal Caribbean ones are looking at over 5,500 pax!
As this is a short cruise during holiday times they are overcapacity to have nearer 3500 pax and the difference is noticeable.
Let’s just say someone may have staggered slightly back to her room.
She recovered quite well.
For a quick lie down before dinner?🛌
YES!

The short Aussie cruises are a bit like the short Caribbean ones. Everyone is at the bars and venues ready to party and so on. That's the experience and not what I'd describe as a true cruise holiday.

The longer cruises on the bigger ships with more ports are our preference and there's a much more leisurely pace to everything. And people might hang out on their own balconies and so on instead of hanging out in public spaces. Relax after a long shore excursion and so on. So don't judge them all on the basis of this one which is its own unique experience.

Our next cruise is on a 2700 passenger size and from all reports the size is perfect for purpose. Viking ships are around 900 pax and there is always plenty of space throughout the ship. Never crowded.

We took an Uber out to Frogmore Creek for a fantastic lunch and a delightful bottle of Pinot Noir.
The Wallaby was really good

So were the Oysters and Scallops.
The chocolate dessert finished off lunch on a high note.
