Hi
I am at wits end and gobsmacked to learn this "hidden" rules. Is this fair practice?
In Oct 2024, I booked a trip SYD-MAD on Turkish airlines website. On the FF member Q, I selected Krisflyer membership and provided the details
SYD-KUL-SYD (was operated by Malaysian airline-not a star alliance member)
KUL-MAD- Turkish airlines-star alliance member
Now I am told by Krisflyer team that SYD-KUL-SYD sector cannot be credited with any points because Malaysian airlines operated that flight and it does not honour points accrual for this flight None of the info below was highlighted to me before/after or at the time of booking on Turkish Airlines site.
Can someone please advice if this is a normal practice or is any of them bound to honour the points. We travelled Business class so the points are not less. Also, not knowing this "hidden" rule, I have already booked yet another such combination for April 2025.
Please help get to the bottom of this
Singapore Krisflyer team says
Please be informed upon checking the itinerary the Turkish Airlines flights are operated by Malaysian Airlines which city pair is not eligible for mileage accrual.
You may check this link: https://www.singaporeair.com/conten...ages/ppsclub-krisflyer/charts/KFOALLevels.pdf
Once you check the Malaysian Airlines codeshare flights kindly check the footnote number 10 and see the city pairs.
The Sydney to Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur to Sydney is not eligible.
Malaysian Airlines Enrich program says
In response to your query, we would like to inform you that flights operated solely by Malaysia Airlines are eligible to earn points. However, flights operated by Malaysia Airlines that are codeshared with non-Oneworld and non-partner airlines are not eligible to earn points under the Enrich Malaysia Airlines program.
As you wish to claim the points under Singapore Airlines, we kindly recommend that you reach out to the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Customer Service team for further clarification on the matter.
Turkish Airlines says:
We are unable to fulfill your request because the flight you mentioned in your feedback was not operated by a Star Alliance member airline (Malaysia Airlines).
With Miles&Smiles, you can only earn Miles on flights operated by Turkish Airlines or Star Alliance member airlines. To see a list of Star Alliance member airlines,
