AFF Gathering # 5 in CBR - what dates

Million dollar question, what are your preferred dates, and the answers/preferences are, see below for Ewing's input as two threads were created at the same time and some good points are raised.

AFF Gathering #5 - CBR - Dates

Ok, from my previous thread (thanks for merging!). Feedback on dates:

• September 30-Oct 2: Floriade is on
• October 7-9: It's a long weekend here, and Canberra will be dead. Hotels will probably be cheap.
• October 14-16: Last week of Floriade, Parliament ends on the 13th so flights out of CBR will be limited but flying in should be fine.
• October 21-23: Original suggestion. People have suggested that this conflicts with others.
• October 28-30: Parliament resumes on Monday which may have an impact on hotels.

I am fine with all dates. I usually go away on the long weekend, but could stay

First to vote for 14-16 October, I will be happy with most dates.

I'll vote for 7-9 Oct but any weekend other than 21-23 Oct is OK by me.

To be realistic a weekend that is quiet for everyone else is probably good for us.

I've put down 21st - 23rd oct as that's the dates I'd prefer

Oct 7th - 9th is out (well Sunday will be), but any other weekend I'd prob be able to join in...

I would love to have attended but will be in the USA for all of October and half of November

Ok we need to set a date and start planning. One member of the organising committee has already fled the area and gone to BNE .

By confirming a date and numbers then planning can be out in place and locations scouted.

Having said that I am going to travel myself soon and wont be back until mid-February.

How about a date being set in the next few days, say by Wednesday, while the poll does show a leader I have to say my vote would change now to favor the long weekend.

I chose 7-9, but I guess 21-23 is equally good, and both are neck and neck so it’s not a worry either way currently.

My Feedback on dates:

• September 30-Oct 2: No issues here - my 3rd choice
• October 7-9: If it's a long weekend in CBR and Canberra will be dead with Hotels probably being cheap - sounds good to me (my first choice and my vote).
• October 14-16: See it's the last week of Floriade, with Parliament also ending on the 13th so flights out of CBR will be limited - so my fourth option.
• October 21-23: See it was the original suggestion. No conflicts with me ATM. My second choice
• October 28-30: Can't do - is my son's 2nd birthday on Oct 29, so family party expected, thus my fifth (and last) choice

•September 30-Oct 2: AFL Grand Final I think (might be an issue for some who attend - I could probably be satisfied by a large screen worked into the plans)
•October 7-9: First choice - cheap hotels a good thing
•October 14-16: Seems to clash with Floriade, also a potential clash with another event for me
•October 21-23: Will clash with the same event as per the previous weekend
•October 28-30: OK by me
