You may want to consider HC or Uber. Fixed price and tolls included means cost should be similar to taxi when going to the city during rush hour.

Don't do it! It's not about $$$ it's about QoL..
Skybus then tram/ train/ bicycle... everything in peak hour Melb is better than a cab.. (unless of course you are bringing your surfboard... and then I ask why???)
