AFF Member Stock Discussion

Two parcels of 50K each went through towards the end of Friday - they only dropped the price 30 cents
Interesting; so a large pool of "sell" available. And yet, someone wanted to buy $15m, not a small shareholder and, since the price is high, not a rebalancing. Fascinating.
Most parcels traded were <2,000 and the majority <1000 shares. Small holders.
Well yes, most shareholders (by number) are small shareholders.
The PE at 27 is way out of whack
Yes. But investors decide on (their own) projected PE, not PE. Time will tell. I don't know.

I sold BOQ week before last. I stupidly waited for the dividend knowing the price would drop, but did not expect such a large drop. It had touched $7 in the lead up to the ex date and then fell, and kept falling into the $6.4's. I wanted to be cashed up and ended up selling mid 40's. Of-course next day it began to rise again. I am not worried as I sold above my purchase price and got a couple of dividends. Basically I wanted to be cashed up as I think the market is wobbly. I have a number of companies marked for attention in-case the market drops.

BOQ is a tough one as the business is trying to reset.
Talking about failures I have had Calidus , Walkabout and Booktopia all collapsing to zero. The fiscal fiend will be there to help out.

I'm still waiting for TLS to make a comeback. Yes I did purchase some at just under $3.00 but also some over $4.00
I'd look at more TLS sub $3.40 which is easily possible and WDS sub $23. I see MTS as a work in progress and would top up if they approach $2.80.
I bought VNT at $2.24 around 20 months ago as I saw it as a safe growth stock. I sold it 12 months later in the $3.80's thinking it was a good move and I wanted the cash for another stock. Of-course all the reasons I bought it for should have told me to hold it and now it is another dollar up. It has a mediocre dividend but all the hundreds of government contracts tell me it is a safe growth stock.
Opinions welcomed.

We have VNT in our SMSF and it has gone really well.
We are up quite a bit on TLS but nothing like the top 5 banks.
We topped up QBE around $9.The problem with insurers is they generally have a problem every 10 years. Banks tend to have problems during recessions.
So far JDO is going ok as an SME bank. I think I got that idea from the folks at LSF.
I talk to the OPH folks about 4 times a year as we have quite a chunk invested in Ophir funds.
Our land syndicate subdivision north of Perth has turned the corner and is now profitable due to a major surge in real estate over here.It was a dud for more than 5 years.

Bought WDS when thought it was the green alternative to coal 🙄 oops. It does pay dividends but like watching the Titanic in slow motion.

Yes
Its a long option for me — been buying up and can then decide if need for capital loss mitigation down the track
I originally bought $29s. Glad I did not buy at $36-8. Petroleum products still vital, after all what uniform will the eco-warriors wear if there is no oil? Buying on a dip now should set up for a tidy future dividend, esp. once the inept Goyder is gone.
