I have lots - reasonable div too
I only picked up WDS relatively recently via the BHP sell off. Not a huge amount and probably should have just sold them $39 but didn’t…bought a couple more when they dropped and today I’ve almost doubled the holding. Still relatively small parcel but I’ll wait and see how the Federal election goes and might quickly buy more. Regardless, there’s van underlying cash cow there for a few more years. Probably more so than STO - I’m still undecided what to do with that one… WDS is a player in Green Hydrogen and ammonia, if (that’s a big IF), they’ll be a market darling again down the track.
Looking at FMG today.
I bought FMG early on. Did nothing for years as they built up, started paying a few dividends and then went gang busters about 6mths after I sold out…😔.

They’ve been in the doldrums a bit (along with others) pending what’s happening in China?

I escaped the margin loan disaster.
Was almost talked into one about 1 year before the GFC
Only a disaster when one over extends themselves / doesn’t understand how they work or had some really bad stock in there. My lending ratio has generally been quite low. Never come close reaching the “buffer” let alone a margin call.

Sailed through GFC, COVID and other calamities without panicking.

After 25 yrs, I’m in the process of winding up my margin loan but it’s a $1m line of credit that doesn’t actually appear on my credit rating reports(!), so I might run it down to the min balance and hold onto it a little bit longer.

I began investing in shares in 1969. My father began a few years before that. Used his broker.
My first trade was PGH then a brickworks. They had had a fire not long after getting the contract for bricks for the SYD International terminal.
Made enough profit to Take a trip to PNG and the Solomons for 6 weeks between end of my exams and starting work as an intern.

It was much more satisfying investing in the 70s and 80s. Insider trading wasn't a thing for small investors.

Ok @Quickstatus we do have ORI but for us it hasn’t been an out performer. We have it where we take shares in place of dividends so we are building our shareholding. ORI is well managed but the shares don’t move much.
