I have been following the restructure of TRS over past couple of years and recently suggesting to my broker I should be buying around $2.80. Broker disuaded me as late as 4 weeks ago. Wish I'd ignored his advice now.

Some brokers know less than we do. They rely on analysis information but need to understand the analysts background and personal biases.

Never seen this before. Unclear if they've rejected my application because I selected the wrong risk factor??????????

Seems so. But murky if they're applying one's stated overall investment risk appetite to a single investment...eg one might be a conservative investor but still have a small flutter on a startup, or conversely be a big investor in Bitcoin but still want some bank term deposits.

Dow down 715.8 pts on Friday. More to come imo before the dust settles. Question is, can I sit on my hands long enough with stocks I've earmarked to buy on down dips.

Of course they do.. every client has different needs expectations and risk appetite, eg SMSF clients

Pooled gold funds should continue to do well in this environment. Not as volatile as individual stocks but a good way to have exposure and minimise risk.

Here's something interesting for you from Sunday's paper and it's not the first time I've seen it.
One broker says sell WTC whilst another says buy WTC. Guess why I don't have a broker and just do my own thing.

Not exactly, its whether one broker provides different advice to different clients. TGh correctly says different clients may have different investment goals and risk appetite which would influence a broker's advice. But what if they were clients of the same investment/risk profile?. Would brokers favour one group of clients over another.

Anyone care to forecast which way the stock markets will go after Trump announces his 'Liberation Day' tariffs? Will the Trump Slump continue or will the announcement soothe nerves and lead to a market rebound?

Personally I expect the imposed tariffs to be worse then forecast and the slump to gain pace. But what do I know?

Pure guess but slump followed by rebound a few days later and then little movement until next round of US data comes out

Not everyone will have read Robert Gottliebsen's most recent future gazing ; but folks with skin in the game arguably should.
He proposes a bleak national fiscal future regardless of election outcome ; I extrapolate that as a bear market or worse.
Of course there are always doomsayers but this one, at least, has some runs on the board.
Leads to a long range forecast …..overcast with periods of rain and an occasional sunny break….

Well the 10% Tariff on Australian goods may set the cat among the pigeons. I'm an importer, and I'm fully expecting (and encouraging) Australia to slam 10% tariffs on all yank goods moving forward -

We have free trade agreements with alot of other nations, so its time to slam the door shut on these guys until they sort out their mess. Plenty of good imports from the UK, Korea, China, Japan that remain duty free, and maybe its time to Fast Track FTAs with Italy and Germany for good measure.
