Agoda woes already

Sounds like Agoda's problem not VAs.

I've never had any trouble (after I worked out that rates which involve paying the hotel rather than Agoda don't earn and won't give you a box to put in your VA number). Earn has always come in quickly; although the earn sometimes seems to happen at the 3pts per USD rather than AUD sometimes.

I have been trying to book a hotel on Agoda today. Tried this morning (and thought there might be a glitch) and tried again just now but the same thing happens. No option to select VA number when going in through both FF site or VA home site. I wanted to book a room in Vancouver for 1 night and the search said there were no Vancouver hotels available. I clicked again and all the hotels came up, then it said the hotel I selected had no availability, I clicked checked rates and all rooms came up as available, I went to select room and the site told me my session had timed out. No delays in me entering information or clicking through, so I gave up. Not sure the effort is really worth the 3 for 1 return. This is too hard to deal with VA, please fix up this up. How hard is it to give people money. I want to spend it, and may just do so with someone else!

I was able to replicate the problems you describe when I searched for Vancouver also... however, when I did my usual search for Coolangatta, QLD, it seemed to be working as normal. It'd definitely be something on Agoda's side, and I'd suggest nothing much VA can control in that respect. I tried a search for Manhattan, NY, and it also seemed to be functioning fine. Perhaps it's just the Vancouver/Canadian part that is having trouble tonight. Hope it works out for you though... the bonus points are good value, IMO.

I booked a stay at a hotel here at ATL via an internet terminal at the airport. I followed the links to Agoda via the VA website just like I have in the past. But unlike previous stays, I was unable to put my VFF number in. So while I am still here, I fired off an email to Agoda.

What was the outcome of the retro claim. Not all hotels will allow you to enter your VFF number - even via the Velocity portal for Agoda. I notice that most Marriott's for example will not - and its usually in the case of rates where Agoda does not do the actual charge (where the charge is actually made by the hotel as a prepayment - as noted on the payment page).

Would be interesting to see if VFF will do a retro claim on these stays that don't actually appear eligible for earn on the Agoda portal.

Hi guys,

Quick question. I'm a virgin Australia frequent flyer and I've got a trip planned to Japan in about 2 months time. I've been trying to contact agoda but their customer service ain't the best. As such, I've got the following questions listed below.
1)I booked a few hotels a few weeks ago but I've yet to receive any points. I've also chosen the option to pay at a later date. Do the points get credited into my velocity frequent flyer point after payment? or after the stay at the hotel?
2)Also, I have an agoda account that gives me cheaper rate-'Insider deals'. Agoda has said that the insider deals get me velocity points too but somehow given their track record of being vague, I don't seem to trust them.
Anyone care to shed some light on this??

Thanks!

ljwalvin, they will not post the points until after your stay, to safe guard against cancellations etc.... I used Agoda to book hotels throughout Seattle and Vancouver recently and at no time did I get the option to enter my VFF number. VA answered my query by saying put a retro claim in. I did, over a month ago and have not been credited. I have had problems with Agoda from when I started to use them, some bookings allow you to enter your VFF number, some don't. I was told by VFF that you had to enter their site through the VA website to ensure your VFF number was entered, but alas no option on some occasions and an option on others. Another word of warning, they will not issue an Australian tax invoice if you are paying in Aussie dollars. Agoda will only issue a Singapore receipt, which my company finance department will not accept to reconcile our company credit cards. Put simply, I gave up and use other web based booking engines to book hotels.

Did you get to Agoda via the Velocity site link? Ive got approx. 5 hotels booked and each one asked me my V number.

For ljwalvin, I received my points after our hotel stay but keep copies of your booking just in case you have to do a retro claim.

I entered through their website.so I'm guessing it should be OK? It also asked me for my Freq flyer number as well.:)

Yeah I have entered through velocity and it does not always ask you for your VAnumber, some times it did.
