Hi,

We are currently in Positano, while family freezing at home in Melbourne....

wanting to to book some internal flights with Air Berlin, so, do we need to pay for seats as WP?

any other perks we have with one world?

thanks in advance

TQ

You should be looked after well with Airberlin as a Qantas Platinum. You'll be able to select up-front seats for free (often with a shadow included if the flight isn't full), get an extra baggage allowance, and if there is a oneworld lounge at the airport you're using you will have access.

You won't have access to the so-called Exclusive Waiting Areas as a QF Platinum at the few airports that have them, but honestly you're not missing anything anyway!

If you're flying out of Italy, just be careful that you don't end up on an AB codeshare flight operated by Alitalia - you won't get your oneworld benefits in that case.

I used to fly them semi-frequently around Europe - let me know if you have any more questions.

I've done a handful of AB flights as a Qantas Platinum and can confirm everything Mattg has said. Priority check-in (can't recall about boarding) and luggage came out first on a couple of flights (but not always). No AB waiting area access but if another OW lounge existed no problem. Completely open and free seat access too. Decent onboard service as well. On one flight I was offered a free drink and sandwich off the onboard purchase menu. This was a one-off though and I don't think it is standard. But you never know!

You usually get a free drink (sometimes two if you ask nicely) and a choice of complimentary "sweet or salty" snack, which is generally a bag of crisps or a chocolate bar. Some flights (particularly the ones to/from VIE which are operated by Niki) also come with a free sandwich. The buy on board menu offers more substantial hot meals - my personal favourite is the currywurst.

Either way, good to hear you enjoyed the service. :)
