Hey folks, I'm looking at redeeming what's left of my VA points around Canada next year, however there seems to be a big discrepancy in fees, especially Montreal to Vancouver.

YUL -> YVR, 38000 pts + $728.90 (A330)
YUL -> LAX, 53000 pts + $105 (A330)

Out of Toronto the fees look quite "normal".
YYZ -> YVR, 38000 pts + $32.80 (787)
YYZ -> LAX, 38000 pts + $95.70 (A330)

Am I right to assume these "Business Reward" fares are Air Canada's Signature Class cabins? From what I've read they have retrofitted A330s.

Is there any chance this is a pricing error on the Virgin site, or should I wait to see if it changes/drops on YUL -> YVR?

Since Velocity says it doesn't charge any carrier charges on Air Canada redemptions, I would suggest that the $728.90 fees/taxes is a mistake.

I see that Velocity is also adding a charge of $270.90 in economy on the YUL-YVR route, which is clearly ridiculous.

Thanks Matt! I actually just got off the phone with Virgin and they were able to book it for me with only $41 taxes, so looks like a glitch in the system.

I did have to make multiple calls though as the first operator advised me that $728 is correct and based off seat availability!!

This seems to be fixed now - I'm seeing 38,000 Velocity points + $38.90 for a YUL-YVR reward in J.

Still seems to be a few issues. E.g. I just had a look at MEX-YUL and the charges are $371.50. I believe the correct amount should be $125.50.

Update: I called Velocity and was able to book this flight over the phone for 38,000 points in J + $92.30 taxes.

The website is clearly incorrect.
