Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia Airlines Announce New-look Joint Network

Looking forward to it. An email from our GM last night shows us spending almost $680k on Qantas (all in Y) and "getting nothing from it". Now Virgin has kicked in free lounge for all staff who fly to help ease the transition.

If this lines up with my flights to NZ, then I will be a happy camper.

Would be great to gain points to places not serviced by Virgin Australia. I have a few places in the pacific I would like to visit.

I hope this means new direct routes so people won't have to change as often at Auckland or Christchurch, if 'joint network' just means the same routes and no duplication of DJ and NZ then the overall effect is worse not better.

Heard on the grapevine yesterday that one route under consideration is CBR-WLG,not sure how much truth there is in the rumour though.
Cheers
