I had the pleasure of flying from ADL-AKL on the Air NZ Dreamliner for the inaugural flight on Thursday, 26th October. While Air NZ appears to be very stingy at releasing award seats, I was lucky enough to nab a couple of J seats for the inaugural flight via Krisflyer after searching United (a bargain at just 17,500 points each).

While the hard product can be a bit polarising, I thoroughly enjoyed my flight. The crew were extremely friendly, and kept me topped up with copious amounts of Billecart-Salmon NV during the journey :)

I've published a review on my blog here: Air New Zealand Dreamliner: Adelaide to Auckland Business Class

Terrific report.

The J configuration looks a bit odd, as you say. Appreciate the photos.

Loved the TR!! Will be in ADL 2-3 x this yr so looking forward to the 787 if it times well. TBH it's really the Wine region and Kangaroo Island that make me a massive fan of this direct flight. I've flown through MEL and although it's ok.... a direct flight is preferable than the connect. Your use of points is an eye opener. Thank you.

Great report.

I was shocked at how few points and $ were required for NZ J! Well done to you!
